Tell me about 15. Since i have family reading my trips I dont really add the whole story.. But for now i will leave this one.. On the last trip i passed a cop doing 105.. I knew he nailed me and it was just a matter of time.. So once i decided i was caught i kept it at 105.. And i saw a sign that said exit in 2 miles.. So i figured by the time it would take the cop to get to 105 i would be off the exit right? Wrong..I screetched off the exit doing a lot.. The cop was right behind me.. Apparantly he thought i was a runner.. He had all of our luggage out on the road searching for drugs.. He asked me why he shouldnt take me to jail for felony speeding.. I acted really stupid and told him we were very lost and looking for the Hoover Dam.. It was a rental and I was use to the petal, the car drives so much smoother then my old clunker, Yada yada yada.. I sent a 270 dollar check to like Tomahawk CourtHouse somewhere and my insurance never went up thank g-d.. edit to add.. Normally for a road trip i allow myself to get one ticket.. It was terrible getting that one like 40 miles into a 3000 mile trip.. Hopefully my luck will be better on this one.. edit again: it was Mocassin courthouse by the way..

Being a p-dutch boy i can respect the lebanon bologna aka Summer Sausage.. As a child i would eat those on buttered white white bread with kettle cook potato chips smashed down in the sandwich..

Flying out this Sunday and dont have any recs from anyone.. Was hoping someone would hook it up..
-
Wow.. Lucky you, thats a good sandwich right there.. I use to live on the east side and would drive to New Jersey every morning.. I would go across houston and purposely make the left down Mott on my way to the Holland.. I have had that chicken sandwich for breakfast many mornings.. I would sometimes hit up Ruben Empanadas after.. MMMMM breakfast.. Anyway, enjoy the sandwich, however, i would tell you to eat it immediately the next time you go..In the morning that bread is awesome..

without wine i would say that meal was like 50 bucks a head..

When discussing careers one cliche has always been repeated"Find something that you love and are passionate about" I have never seen such a better example of this then at The Tasting Room .. Run by a husband and wife, The Tasting Room is perfect down to the finest detail.. Even making a reservation is a delightful experience thanks to Renee the owner... Besides the food being creative, local, and fabulous, besides the wine list being so amazing and enormous for a place three times its size, there is such a special feeling here which can only come from being surrounded by love and passion. This is the type of place that motivates you to be a better person.. The menu is structured into two types of ordering.. You can order each dish in different portion sizes.. A regular portion which would allow a traditional arrangement of appetizers and entrees.. Or a taste portion which allows one to sample many different items.. We happily put ourselves in the owners hands and were not disappointed.. However, since i didn't even look at the menu, I might not be too clear on all the dishes, thankfully the pictures explain how good the meal is far better then my words.. oysters Refreshing and wonderful Kumomoto Oysters This is an example of why the tasting room is amazing.. The things they do with vegetables is magical.. Its all fresh, local, and just as good if not better then any of the fish or meat dishes.. Here is asparagus with smoked eel and homemade mayo.. Pure heaven.. Smokey, fresh, creamy, crunchy, fantastic. Fois Gras pineapple infused honey comb, that we crushed and lightly dipped the fois into... Awesome.. And such a huge piece of fois gras. poached local farm egg over roasted shitakes incredible earthy flavor of a mushroom the textures were terrific.. This worked so well. ....also incredible!!!! cod - that's all I remember. Not to take anything away from it, it was consistant to how wonderfull all the dishes were.. This man makes a duck like you wouldnt believe.. This was one of the better duck dishes i have had.. Now i have done two cross country drives searching for the best bbq pork.. This pork belly is up there with any of the best plates of oink i have had.. With a yam puree lining the bowl.. If i just had this dish i would have went home raving.. What a way to finish off.. I always like when the chef does desserts as well.. (I think i would love if Colin, the owner chef, made a peanut butter sandwich).. It keeps a consitency.. This dessert was outstanding..bittersweet chocolate terrine with a filbert nut crust...no flour in this crust..Cake was out freaking standing.. It was hot, goey, terrific bittersweet chocolate.. What a meal.. What a place..

So yesterday I walk up to my local fruit guy who stands on 85th and broadway... asked him if he is going to get lychees soon.. He said, i have some right now but just a little.. He told me they were 5 bucks a pound.. Now this guy is really shady and you can bargain with him.. So he pulls out a plastic bag from the drivers seat.. He puts it on the scale and tells me its a lot less just give me 1.50... Very intrigued and more skeptical, I ask guy to show me whats in the bag... It was a branch with like 8 lychees attached.. I declined the offer... What a bastard.. So whats a good price per pound for lychees in NY.. What are the prices in other peoples neck of the woods..

I hope I made it clear that although the food was passable, it is by no reason the draw of this place.. I took a four year old who loves horses for her birthday.. If they had provided an option to not eat the food, i would glady take it.. Its not somewhere i would take a date, or go with friends my age.. I dont even know if the age child who would enjoy it goes passed 2nd or 3rd grade. The whole fun was to be at a interactive dinner show with a delighted child who was trying to wrap her mind around such a trippy experience. That being said we had seen couples celebrating 25th anniversaries.. But please dont think i am considering this place for any other reason besides the show and double hurricanes..

If Whole Foods does eventually get lychees, they'll be at least twice (if not three times) as expensive as the ones you can get in Chinatown now, and not as good. Go to Chinatown, young man. ← Of course I know about C-town... I was using Whole Food as a measure.. If Whole Foods doesnt have it, then my local corner store isnt going to have it yet either. But a trek to Chinatown during a busy weekend from the UWS, i would have to pay a little extra to save the time..

I havent seen fresh lychees around.. I havent been searching too hard, but was in whole food yesterday.. Just wanted to show you guys an example of that martini thing.. First started with lychees in a blender.. Put them in and blended them so it wouldnt be lumpy, however, sometime we do lumpy Then added the vodka and a shot of pear juice.. The vodka i would say for a can of lychees would be about a quarter bottle to more.. Add Ice and blend again my friend.. Thats it.. edit to add.. Didnt have my icecream drums frozen due to a previous engagement.. So we used ice.. It worked out well..

The sake can vary.... The dishes however are small but reasonable.. The most expensive thing was the beef which was i think 20 bucks.. The pork belly was 4.50 though.. And all the other dishes were from 6 to 12 bucks i think.. I know two of the bottles of sake were like 47 bucks each.. The bill was 225 i think and it certainly could have easily been half that without drinking as we did.. a small sample menu www.sakagura.com

My first experience at a Medieval Times was I think at the first one started in Spain about 20 years ago.. It is interesting to see my take on it now and if it was as fun as I remembered... All i can say is, it certainly was.. This time however, a few Hurricanes from the bar helped me be transported back to the future.. The four people in my party arrived via bus out of Port Authority.. The bus left us about a half a block down the street and we walked the rest of the way.. It wouldnt have been that bad, but it was raining.. When we arrived, there was a beautiful rainbow, so it made the rain well worth it.. TIP 1: The stadium is set up with different rows that seat different size partys..Find out what time the door opens and be the first in line, even the front row seats are given out among the people who bought the plan on a first come basis... So this guarantees you the best seat.. As you enter into the building you are handed a crown and then brought into a huge room with a bar.. There are also giftshops surrounding the room, to get kids to ask for overpriced swords and stuff.. Tip 2: Dont pay for the museum in torture exhibit, its the size of a broom closet and really overpriced.. Tip 3: The Hurricane drinks are pre-made so ask for a double, give the maiden a five she will put additional alcohol in your drink for the rest of the night.. So if you should up early enough to be seated first you have a while to hang out.. Then the king starts to call out all the birthday peoples names and they go up to take photos with him.. Finally the king calls everyone in and tells people based on their crown where to go.. Here is a picture of the stadium before the nights holding torches come riding out... Here one of the many proceedings that took place... Those of you looking for amazing food will not find it here.. However it certainly is an experience.. The knight show is awesome, there is jousting, there is sword fights, horse dancing, some pyrotechnics, and audience particpation by way of cheering for your side.. Soup- Vegetable.. Pretty Good.. Garlic Bread- The best thing there Chicken- Surprisingly good.Moist, had some flavor.. Get to use your hands in the dark. Ribs had great smokey flavor.. A nice dry rub... Just kidding.. It was eadible, at this point though I went for the potato.. Not bad.. and an apple cake That night our knight won, which was really cool for our young guest.. All in all i would say this place is a lot of fun.. It was like an amusement park, a show, and dinner all wrapped in one.. We adults had equal fun to the child.. In terms of getting home we took a taxi instead of waiting for the bus..

Ok.. Sorry for jumping the gun on my other road trip to Seatle and then across Numero 4.. What happen was we were always planning on driving across in August, but we discovered another route, so we decided to do this one too.. We are leaving in less then two weeks for this one and have only made a small map of our route.. I hear that I-90 runs parellel with US-20 which is a 2 lane road.. So in the interest of time we are going to be most likely driving along 90 unless there are places to see.. Thank you for all of your suggestions along these two roads ...We always love the advice we get from everyone here.. Daniel First Road Trip Second Cross Country

Bux, that was really well said.. I have been there and it was rather accident.. I was in the area on a weekend afternoon.. A year ago at least.. A date and I were walking by and lucked out by grabbing a seat. We had a couple of wines and maybe a sardine and some meat.. Excellent and the situation work out so well but wouldnt have worked if it was scheduled.
