And they are definitely available in Canada!

Wanted to weigh in with a different opinion. I have found Queue de Cheval to be far superior to Ruth's Chris. That being said, I've eaten there (Ruth's) a few times and never had a really good meal. It was okay, but nothing to go back for based on the other choices in Toronto (Barberian's Harbour Sixty etc.)

You guys are awful!!! Saw this and just had to have carnitas for lunch. Pork currently cooking, off to make some tortillas to go with. I am NOT reading the larb thread today!

I sincerely hope the meeting turned out better than the looks of that breakfast! Thanks for blogging again. I really enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to this one. -
Marlene, your roast looked wonderful. I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all with a Crown Roast of Pork, it's easier than the beef. Will you be stuffing the centre?

Not that I want to rain on any parades here ... BC is looking at doing the same thing ... but since when is it the school's job to determine what my kids eat? The point about high school students Jake made is a good one. I couldn't buy pop at school, but I was at the local Wendy's at least 2-3 times a week. Good for the school's for doing what's right. My fear is that some parents will figure there kids are safe because of any new legislation, and slack off on the job of parenting. A. ← And I have to agree with you, Daddy-A. Kids can access the junk if they want to, it is the parents responsibility to see that most of what their kids are eating is healthy. Just as it's not the schools responsibility to discipline their children for them! Oops, way off topic there, just a pet peeve.

Great news. Not sure how much this would help in the high schools though. It's very common/easy for older students to go out for lunch and some probably never enter the cafeteria. Truthfully, when I was in high school we went out at least twice a week for fries, burgers, Jamaican patties etc.

Best wishes on your anniversary. The food looks incredible....when will you be starting your flash frozen mail order business????

Last night's dinner for a cold, wet, yucky day. Pork roast with butter and sage, roasted root vegetables (squash, turnip, parsnip, carrot, garlic, potato) and braised red cabbage. Chocolate pots de creme for dessert.

Hear, hear, Bux! I, too, am heartily sick of it all. I love dining out, I love experiencing different chefs interpretations and I do not expect them to follow my, or anyone elses, ideas of how to prepare food.

I second Judith's suggestion, but I also add a quartered lemon to the garlic and fresh herbs. Yummy. -
bump. So, how was the deep fried Prime Rib?

Sunday night after a cold, damp day: braised veal shanks in demi-glace based sauce over polenta and carrots. A bottle of lovely Bordeaux, opened by accident...oops, must read label before grabbing and opening! All very warm and satisfying.

Carolyn, my condolences on your loss, I'm sure nothing will ever be quite the same again. Thank you for sharing your story with us, although I had tears running down my face, I was smiling at the same time. Congratulations on being published. I echo everyone else who believes that your mom really does know....somewhere out there.

Little Tokyo is a grocery. It is fabulous, great selection, good quality products and extremely helpful staff!

There's one at Yonge & Eglinton that's surprisingly good, but I can't for the life of me recall the name. It's north of Eglinton on the west side....could be convenient if you're in the area.

I'm really looking forward to your blog. I've enjoyed watching your interest/love of cooking develop with eG over the last few months. Gotta love the diet Coke for breakfast.....although mine would've been diet Pepsi -
I second Susan. I'd love to see a food blog by eunny. Just got home from running/moderating etc. a 3 day conference. Too tired to cook. The SO spoiled me rotten with foie gras pate/mousse, various cheese (blue d'auvergne, st. augustine, charmes, and one other that escapes me) and champagne! My favourite dinner after being subjected to horrid hotel food.
-
You could've fooled us and said you cut the crusts off for the kids! Or perhaps you were recreating a version of English tea sandwiches??
-
Kris, I'm so glad you're blogging again!! I just returned from a conference away and was thrilled to see this as I look forward to all your posts and threads. They are always interesting, enjoyable and informative.
-
Hmmm, crow. This hasn't been your best week, eunny?

Missed the show, unfortunately. Had take away sushi for dinner too, got home late, too tired to cook. Must have been all that discussion!
-
Please do. I'll try and catch the show.

Fukiu Sushi - apparently pronounced foo-kwi or foo-kiew. Yeah, right. That's not what the local's call it.

Thank you for that Elie. Although I'm not a fan of rice pudding, my SO loves it, so I'll be trying your recipe soon.
