He cannot promise that the new course will work as well with the wine or flow of the menu, but I cannot see anyone complaining about this. Please let me know which course you would like replaced and if needed, why. I will relay this information to him before the dinner.
  3. Damn, I must get back to RTS and quick! Michael, Are there any cuts of meat that you wish more people would order because they may be unfamiliar with it or think it has a bad rap? BTW, how much coffee do you drink before you record your answering machine message?! Thanks.
  4. Still finalizing the menu and cost. We should have things posted here very soon...
  5. Be afraid, be very afraid...
  6. So what is the plan?
  7. The votes have been counted and recounted and I have verified things with Chef Power. The date for the Corduroy dinner is Tuesday October 19th at 7:30pm. I am NOT going to assume that you are in just becuase you voted for that date. Please PM or post here to let me know if you are going to come. We are still working on the menu, but we should get things posted here shortly. We will be using the PayPal prepay system once gain so use the EMAIL button or PM me your email address so that I can send you the 'invoice'. EDITED: We will know the cost when we get the menu.
  8. There is an event at the Press Club as well on Tuesday, November 23, 2004. Link here... I am more inclined to go this event as its cheaper ($80 for non-press club members) and I have enjoyed events there in the past. Who's up for going?
  9. No website that I know of. What info are you looking for? All you really need to know is he has GREAT steaks! Go and you will not be disappointed!
  10. A date has not been set yet as I am going to wait a couple more days for votes to come in. If any of you are waiting to vote on dates based on the menu, please let me know. I want to make sure that we can get a good crowd for this event. I will post the menu as soon as we have it finalized. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
  11. Tonight....Palena....

    Jaleo

I had lunch at the new outpost in Crystal City and had the pork sausage. I too was surprised by the dry beans, although mine did not come with a load of parsley. I enjoyed the flavor of the beans, but have never seen this style before.
  16. Talk about timing. I made plans to go there tomorrow night and am even more excited about trying it after reading all these comments.

    Firefly

Had dinner with a friend at Firefly the other night and after the addictive pork spring rolls I had the halibut with grits and okra and she had the risotto. This was my first time not getting either the rib eye or lamb and I was not disappointed. The highlight, besides the Gewürztraminer (John help me with the name), was the bread pudding special for dessert. A wonderfully light and creamy muffin shaped pillow of bread pudding atop of some caramelized apple slices served with a black pepper caramel sauce with a bit of creme fraiche on the side. Simply wonderful! BTW, I think he mentioned that the new menu would be out in the next week or so. I for one cannot wait to see what is on it.
  18. I spoke with Chef Power today and he is looking forward to hosting us for this event. We hope to have the menu available for posting sometime next week. The menu will feature dishes along the lines of what is currently available at the restaurant. There will be an optional wine paring matched to the courses. (BTW the menu on the website is out of date.) Keep those votes on dates coming in!
  19. Hello everyone, I have been in touch with Chef Power and the best dates for the dinner are either Tuesday October 19th or Wednesday October 20th, time to be determined later. We are going to let the majority here decide on which date works better so let me know where you stand (the sooner the better). We have not yet discussed specifics on the menu so more details will follow. The only certainty is that there will be wine pairing available with the meal. EDIT: Chef Power has let me know that Sunday October 17th and Monday October 18th can be added to the voting.
  20. 3 words: Pork belly confit!
  21. Go to Gary Danko I sat at the bar and ate like a king for about 3 hours. The cheese cart they have is wonderful. Went to Plouf as well and enjoyed a good plate of mussels and frites. Another place to consider is Quince.
  22. ...at Corduroy! I have been in contact with Chef Tom Power and he is excited about doing an eGDC dinner at Corduroy. I am initially thinking that this would take place somewhere around the third week of October. So before we can nail down a date or even think about a menu we need to get an idea of how many people would be interested, PM me or post here... We had a bunch of new faces and a great time earlier this month at CK so lets see if we can get a bunch more first timers to this event. Stay tuned for more info....

    2 Amy's

Damn stretch, what is on the schedule for dinner tonight?!
  24. Got back a short time ago from eating at the bar. This was my first trip to the restaurant and I could hardly believe that this was the space once occupied by Santa Fe East. They have done a wonderful job with the place. If you want to eat at the bar you really must get a seat at the bar becuse they have coffee tables (read low to the ground) with the chairs in the rest of the space. They look like thye are great for relaxing with a drink, but certainly would not make for easy dining. Anyway, it has been discussed before, but I want to emphasize that the confit of pork belly is amazing. For dessert I had the chocolate mojito. This is a slice of chocolate genoise in the middle of 2 layers of chocolate mousee which is covered in a dark chocolate shell. It is garnished with a ribbon of dark chocolate and is served atop a drizzle of mint cream and small bits of mint gelee. If you enjoy chocolate this dessert is for you. If you have not been, get thee to Restaurant Eve!
  25. I am in. I would be up for doing a BBQ pickup run.
