  1. "Fresh" McNuggets just wouldn't be the same. There's just something about those fatty, super processed, sodium laden McNuggets that I love.
  2. Chilly bears
  3. Being a scientist, my favorite museum in Philly has always either been the Mutter, or the Franklin Institute. The Mutter has disembodied humans and all sort of oddies. The Franklin Institute is a really cool hands-on Science museum, with a planetarium and IMAX theater. I haven't been there since the 8th grade, but they have a giant walk-thru heart that is really cool. I heard they recently renovated it.
  4. I want one bad.
  5. The four main touristy areas of the city are: Old city: Constitution center, Independence mall, Liberty bell, Betsy Ross House Franklin Parkway: Natural History museum, Franklin Institute, Art Museum Rittenhouse: High end shopping and lounging around the square. South Street: Shopping, eats, tattoos Get a cheesesteak, why not. Try out a BYOB too. They're all small, and quitessentially Philly (meaning affordable)
  6. Savona in Gulph Mills.
  7. I think KC Prime is closed.
  8. Manayunk is where ex frat boys and sorority girls go to live out their twenties. South street may look like a teeming mass of graffiti, but at least it's "teeming," with people, businesses, people just "hanging out", whatever. It's a good vibe, and I'll always jump to defend the much-maligned street. If South street simply looks like a teeming mass of graffiti, then Camden Town in London may actually be a teeming mass of graffiti. No one really says anything about Camden Town though.
  9. Let's see: Azafran, NEXT, Beau Monde, Dark Horse... Django, for crying out loud. Just sayin', is all. Latest Dish, Pad Thai, Fez, Ava South Street has actually gotten BETTER as a dining locale over the years.
  10. Sure on Blockbuster, KFC, maybe Haagen Daz. But I wouldn't exactly consider small regional chains such as Rita's and Bains Deli, McBusinesses. In fact, I would consider Ritas a very welcome local addition to the street. In almost the same way that the smaller chain French Connection is a welcome "boutique" style clothing store, as opposed to the mass-market Gap or Abercrombie.
  11. Continental is full of hot girls and pretentious dudes. Except for the dudes, I recommend it.
  12. C'mon. South Street gets a bad rap. but it's really not that bad. Just off the top of my head, I can only list about 5 or 6 McBusinesses on South Street. Gap, Starbucks, Mickey D's, Tower Records, ummm, can anyone name any more?
  13. Manayunk had a long-standing moratorium on new restaurants that was just lifted last year.

    CHLOE

The waiters and waitresses at Chloe are super friendly.
  15. Awesome. I work near there. I wonder if they'll sell sashimi platters.
  16. Kinda off the food topic but.... Philly doesn't have any clubs that can compare to Goa and Ibiza. 2-4 is a gay club that plays house and techno. I think it has a different name now, but it's generally consistent. Shampoo on certain nights? It's pretty much the last remaining mega-club in Philly. Deco is a del ave. bar/club that opens until 3. I've been there once, and it was pretty dancey. You need a membership. Fluid/Aqua Lounge I guess has good music. Both are small. L'Etage (above Beau Monde) is a really cool and beautiful looking bar.

    Salt

Obviously, the owner of the restaurant didn't quite know his salt!
  18. Hexagone isn't bad except for the fact that it's filled with dudes and the girls there are ugly.
  19. On the topic of Guinness, I always request my guinness ugly, because I'm always too impatient to wait for a "perfect pour".
  20. If you're mixing, you can't taste the alcohol anyway, so just buy an 8 dollar handle of Banker's Club. For drinking straight, I like Chopin or Stoli.
  21. Beerios.
  22. If the host is Chinese, pretty much all you have to bring is a box of clementines and a 2 liter bottle of Coke for the kids.
  23. Cirque de Soleil is on Washington Ave. right? That's pho-town.
  24. Only according to Philadelphia Magazine. Have you checked the amount of high ticket advertising the Bass (and Steven Starr's entire empire) does in Philly Mag? Full back and inside front covers, as well as several pages in between.... The Best of Philly awards are a lot like The Wine Spectator awards in many cases. Rouge got "Best Burger", but we have many times in the past as well. Not doing much advertising in Philly Mag of late, but I wonder if they actually tried the Burgers at Good Dog, Abbaye or Ten Stone? I like all of them but am partial to ours because I eat them so often. I eat bar food more than half the time I eat out, and my personal opinion is that Good Dog's burgers are better than Ten Stone, better than Monks, better than Standard Tap. They have those sweet potato fries too that are superb. oh yeah, I'm gonna hype the pulled pork sandwich from Ten Stone yet again. One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've had in the northeast.
