  1. Yep, they are open
  2. Bertie Wooster and his breakfasts- with bacon "taken no doubt, from contented pigs".
  3. That was the first thing I noticed as well- both times I have been in it was really warm in there- not exactly confidence inducing. Oh, and for some reason they had Cedar Creek Ehrenfelser marked at 28.99! They have since fixed that- but not the AC.
  4. Frys Cocoa is not Dutch Processed- in the yellow tin. You should be able to find it anywhere in Grocery stores in Vancouver
  5. I don't know why chopped up sugar cubes would be better than granulated sugar for this particular recipe...perhaps she wants the sugar to be in small clumps for a certain "sandy" mouthfeel? [ ← Is it an older recipe? My Mme St. Ange often will call for loaf sugar- or cube sugar. It used to be the formed sugar was made from a finer grain, but that is no longer the case. You could try a comparison between superfine and regular sugar and see if one works better than the other.
  6. Explain Please.
  7. Motts Fruitsations have no sugar added apple sauce with berries etc- I keep them in the house in case we run out of fresh fruit for my son's lunches.
  8. Okay where? We were in Drumheller, and it was a desert. Would love recs
  9. Julia, It is wonderful that you are doing this, especially at a time that you are clearly facing serious personal health challenges. There is a lady in Vancouver who goes out every day to feed the homeless, of which we have a large population. She is disabled and rides a scooter, which she loads down with coffee, sandwiches, etc. I don't know her name, but I know all the street kids in the West End call her mom. I truly believe that one person can make a difference. Maybe this will inspire some more of us to do something similar. You have restored my optimism, at least for today
  10. Right after Etoile was another place called, I think, Zinfandel.
  11. Whooh! I have to say it was the beans that got me. Also, the jello was a little... chewy. I would love to try another version.
  12. Oooh- I love the Cassava cake at Josephines. Not 100% convinced on the Halo Halo however.
  13. Not to mention your wheat coop bra.
  14. Excellent ! Really looking forward to this Deborah! At least your kitchen is a fabulous colour now! Can't wait to see the range in motion
  15. Skip Timmy's and check out Lee's Doughnuts in the Granville Island Market. Hand made and the real thing. Honey dipped.
  16. Someone else posting on it reminded me- the ostrich carpaccio at Chambar would be a great place to start, Andrew
  17. And as it is Cinquo de Mayo, I suspect that that is just what she will be having.
  18. Yes, and I do not jump tall buildings in a single bound. By Choice. Edited. Okay- too harsh- not shown herself fit to judge anything, IMHO.
  19. Matt, Are tickets available? I thought you could only get in by winning.
  20. I have had it at Bin 942- not sure if it is on the current menu.
  21. Well it sure as hell won't be used to produce food if it becomes a light industrial complex or whatever. The population is growing in this city. We would do well to think ahead about maximizing local food production.
  22. Um excuse me, leave Go Fish right where it is- 15 minutes from my house. I have to agree with Arne- what is wrong with having a few homely concession stands? Does everywhere have to look brand spanking new? ETA- why is it assumed that having every inch of public space in private hands will be an improvement?
  23. I certainly haven't noticed them around, but they may be available through specialty shops.
