  1. Solly's gets my vote... and if you are into DIY, there is a guy with a stall at the Granville Island market that has good stuff.
  2. Well, we may not have a lot of "great" wines, but there are a lot of perfectly drinkable BC wines. I like the Lemberger from Blasted Church, and Burrowing Owl, especially the whites. I like some of the Summerhill stuff too- the Baco Noir is good if you want something off dry to sip. I have never been that into to BC but lately I keep finding my self ducking into Broadway International to see if there is anything interesting- and it seems like more and more of what I am bringing home is BC.
  3. HK Dave- Did you know Keg and Gotham are owned by the same guy (along with Hyatts)? Total stranglehold!
  4. Wow, that is truly scary about the Bon. I heard about the Hot Pepper too...Sob. My husband went by there for breakfast and was shocked to discover that it is no more. I am intrigued by the Ordinary Cod Benny.
  5. Bon's off broadway has 2:95 breakfast (Typical eggs, toast, hash, sausage/bacon/ham), and has high volume(=fresh). Stick to peak breakfast hours ie up till 3 on weekends for best coffee refill service. Totally diner with a bit of funk. It is a bit of a trek at Broadway and Nanaimo. Also, Templeton Diner on Granville is really good. Elbow Room. Milestones. The Hot Pepper on Commercial- another diner experience. The breakfast croissants in the market grill at Granville Island Market, or the hot cereal with fruit at the stock market. Go early to find a table. Sounds like you live in Kits, but if you are a true junkie- you may be willing to take some field trips! I have avoided Sophie's breakfasts ever since I ordered a Jimmy's Greek Omelet with Sour Cream on the side, and the waitresses said she couldn't do it because the omelets were "premade". Love the poorboys there though.
