France still owns a bunch of islands in the carribean where rum is made... some rums are, actually really products of France... just the Departments of Martinique and Guadeloupe, etc... which still count as French soil. mmm....good point. So do the french drink much rum then?
-
i don't get how rum is a french thing?

Did they give you beer money too? Because that's a whole different animal clothier. Parents might THINK their kids have enough for food but really some of that money goes to the bars, and the CD store, and the book store, etc. And the fact is that the University I went to (before CIA) had three meal plans: starvation, gluttony, and somewhere in between. Most kids got the somewhere inbetween meal plan and somedays that was enough and other days, like weekends, it was inadequate. well, my college days pre-date CD's, and I was never a music buyer. But yeah, I always had enough money for beer. I lived in the dorm freshman year, and know all about meal plans, and the food at Syracuse was never anything to right home about. hey there was that baba ghanoush place..... actually i'm giving you a hard time - my folks thought they were giving me enough money for food. it just happened to be going towards beer asnd pot instead.

But you know bleaudauvergne - other than the saltcod which was a gift, the rest of the ingredients came to maybe...$10 total? and foreign roomates do kick ass.

wow you sure where on the carb train, huh fist fulla? i can't remember so much what i ate when i lived in the dorms as it was all meal-plan food, but when i moved into my first off-campus apartment, we used to cook all sorts of stuff. 1. Lipton noodle and sauce, with cutup onions sauteed in the fat before adding everything else. 2. tuna sauteed with onions, cayenne and garlic powder. sometimes used to top the noodles and sauce. sometimes jsut eaten with bread. 3. bush's vegetarian beans tarted up with brown sugar and hot sauce and a loaf of rustic bread. 4. oatmeal and peanut butter 5. kiwis and honey for dessert. 6. sliders form the white castle across the street 7. pizza by the slice from the pizza place across the street. 8. 40s. Edit - oh i forgot! ramen noodles, boiled, drained, mixed with butter, the seasoning packet, and what ever other spices we needed to make it taste good. - scrambled eggs and hot sauce, sometime with toast, sometimes with plaitains. - whenever my jamaican roommate got ahold of some saltcod, she would soak it, then fry it with some onions, garlic and scotch bonnet pepper, and then we would mix that with boiled spinach and callaloo (or whatever greens were available) and eat it with boiled ground provisions (potato, green banana, green plantain, and sweet potato)

oh, but hell yes. Brava's lineup consists mainly of paid prospamming, occasionally interspersed with NBC retreads and Columbo reruns. And Rocco's getting edited a la Real World crazy roommate-style. do you know what times by any chance? i dig the monday 8-10 slot - that's more doable for me.
-
in reviewing this thread, seems like i should have kept the tv on a little longer last night. *sigh* mondays at 10pm are just not good for me. does anyone know if bravo will keep airing reruns?

well glad you liked it! i'm in Atlanta. Spent some time up your way when the ex was stationed at Lejeune. You're MIL sounds like a godsend. I guess i'll have to start experimenting with figs. altho i'm unsure what a good fig tastes like - i guess i'll try them til one tastes good. And mongo - why do you get 10% of the profits?
