  8. I had an excellent Indonesian rijsttafel dinner at Kantjil en de Tijger last night. Lots and lots of food, and less than 20 euros a person. Bruce
  9. So, I'm currently in my Amsterdam Hotel (Okura) looking over my room-service breakfast. Among the more normal thing is a small box of chocolate sprinkles. The box clearly shows that I am supposed to put it on my toast. The one bit of English reads "Pure chocolate sprinkles for bread." Can someone help me out here. What's the deal? Do I butter the toast first? Bruce
  10. Do something really horrible. Force feed it a Bayless BK sandwich. Now that's thinking outside the box.

  12. I asked my cats. One shakes the mouse until its neck breaks. The other holds the mouse's head in her mouth until it suffocates. Just trying to help....

    I wasn't wearing a tie on my last visit to Arpege. No one threw me out.
  17. Sometimes I dishwash sponges, but ususally I just throw them away.
  18. That's the problem with our beat. We have a short list of six more restaurants to review, and then we have to start scrounging. I'm sure we'll come up with a dozen more, but then what? Bruce

    I remember growing them as a kid by putting carrot tops in a pan of water. I don't remember them tasting very good.

  21. RenFest, the poker room at the racetrack, ValleyFair. There's a lot down that way, just nothing that I have much interest in going to.
  22. The South Bay can be difficult; there's a lot of drek to wade through. But there are some gems. Last year I wrote a restaurant guide for a science fiction convention in San Jose. I think you'll find it a good place to start for suggestions. Otherwise, if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to offer an opinion. Bruce

    Excellent. I'm glad you posted this. I would have, but I didn't know what you did. (Pleased to have been part of step 10, though.)
  25. Refrigerated, it will last approximately forever. At least, the jar in our refrigerator is still good...and I can't remember how many years ago we bought it.
