Menton - was that the pear galette they had on their Christmas "menu"? We wanted to buy that last weekend, but they were out so we got the kugelhopf instead.

I don't think it was the Xmas galette-- I think it was the regular tarte des poires-- it cost $17. It was on the cart, so we just pointed and took a shot.

P.S. In France now, the boulangeries all sell "sandwichs" and lots of little foodie bread items-- little pizzas, meat rolls, cheese rolls, even tuna & ham sandwichs. Ahhh... wish I was there!!

Jason and I stopped in last night and Glen told us that they were to be mentioned in The Record today. We discuss the article in the Record Reviews thread, but here's a link to the article by Victor Sasson, for posterity: Bread Winner.

Also, the fruit foccacia is delicious. Bread with juicy pieces of rehydrated dried fruit (white raisins, cherries).

The bakery is right around the corner from our pediatrician's office. You have never seen kids so eager to go to the doctor, when they know Mom is stopping off at the bakery on the way home.

The sticky buns and the chocolate muffins are regular faves and there is a loaf of sourdough on the counter as we speak.

If I had more hands, I give it four thumbs up.

Just remember, everything good to eat in NYC comes from New Jersey. You just have to look around.

I'm a NYC expat. Since coming to the darkside, as many of my freinds have said, I've found that most good things in NYC are made in NJ.
