Does anyone have a recipe for making the sauce - Sha Cha Jiang?

I've looked but haven't really found one.

SeIs it similar to XO Sauce?

That's one thing I've never seen anyone made at home....I would suggest reading some labels and do some experiments.....

As far as I know, Sha Cha Jiang and XO sauce are quite different. XO sauce is supposed to be made with top quality ingredients such as dried scallops, hence the name. I'm not sure exactly what's in Sha Cha Jiang, but I don't think it contains any expensive ingredient.

I usually buy sha cha sauce.   The silver can Bull's Head brand from Taiwan is the best.

I agree. That's my favorite brand too. Not all sa cha sauce are created equal. In fact they differ quite a bit. I have tried the brand called "Kim Lan" I think... it tastes bad!

Primarily minced dried shrimp and seasoning I think.

JH's recipe looks interesting. I want to try it when I find myself in the mood of experimenting... I also want to know what amaska is and whether I can find it in the USA.

Hmmm, I waited a week before asking this question. Why would anyone try to make Sha Cha sauce? People generally do not go through the trouble of making soy sauce, ketchup, worcestershire, HP, mam nuoc, etc. ...or do they?

I guess it depends if you think the ready made stuff is acceptable and if it worth the effort of making it yourself.

afterall hellman's mayo is a really good product but even I sometime make my own mayo

"so tell me how do you bone a chicken?"

"tastes so good makes you want to slap your mamma!!"

Whipping up a batch of mayo is a lot simpler than make your own soy sauce and sha cha sauce.

Leave the gun, take the canoli
