Hello - I'll be arriving in the Miami airport around 10 PM on a Friday night and then driving north towards Fort Lauderdale...any suggestions for a good meal on my way up? Thanks!

Coming from the airport I would assume it would be highway travel via 95 north. I wish I could think of a great place to recommend but nothing comes to mind. I do know that if you exit at Hollywood boulevard and then head east there is a Thai place called Try My Thai that I enjoy. I haven't been there in a year or so however.

Sorry I wish I could be more helpful. I live in Palm Beach county and don't get down that way any longer.

Pretty much in the mood for anything good, but quick as I will be arriving around 10 PM, and yes I'll be heading north on 95. Thanks!

Please, tell us what kind of experience you're looking for. And, where are you staying in Fort Lauderdale? I'll add some places to the topic if I can, then.

Try my Thai is no longer there. Based on a reccomendation from another thread on egullet, I went there Mid December when I was in Hollywood visiting my family. It was closed and vacated.

Another great restaurant in the Hollywood area( Young circle) is Mia's grill. Great Italian food, reasonable prices. I would kill for the recipe for their house dressing.

There is also a Mexican place in the circle that's wonderful.

Yes! Get off of I-95 at Hollywood Boulevard and go East. You'll hit the downtown in about ten minutes. There are a LOT of great places there! The 'Historic" downtown distirict is about 4 blocks long and there are lots of good places to eat. I opened a jewelry store there (Belenke Jewelers, 1944 Hollywood Blvd) in the 90's. It's still there, although I'm not! There is a great Russian style bakery/cafe called Chocolada to stop in AFTER dinner, too, and they're open late. Here's a link to the downtown. http://www.downtownhollywood.com/ Have fun!

Wow I had no clue that Try My Thai had closed. Last I was there maybe a year ago they were expanding into the space on the corner. They also have/had a place on Federal in Ft. Laduerdale near Sunrise Blvd. I wonder if that is still around.

Try my Thai closed temporarily during relocation down the street to the old Sushi Jazz spot.

The food is definitely not bad there but not overly exciting either. The owners are really nice people and have a large following. Another recent Thai restaurant was posted about on this thread - Panya Thai in North Miami. I suggest you give that a try.
