Seafood in the western/northwestern 'burbs?

Recommended Posts

The 'rents are coming to visit soon, and I promised them seafood. Unfortunately, the place that I was counting on is undergoing a liquor license switch (big orange PLCB sign, etc.) and renovation. If you can give me good suggestions in Chester/Montgomery/Northern Delaware counties, I'd be most appreciative. "Reasonable" in Philly would work, too.

I would head to Alison in Blue Bell. She has a way with seafood, especially her signature skate wing and anything involving scallops.

Kelly's in NE Philly on Welsh Road at Bustleton Avenue. A pretty good deafood menu. Out of the way, but worth it for the AYCE dungeness crab legs. If not with the 'rents, tuck it away and try it out one day.

I belch, therefore, I ate...

Anything slightly less formal/gourmet? I'm looking for a place somewhere between this and *BLECH* Red Lobster, sea-crud-on-walls optional.

(I'm tuckin' this one away for US!)

Alison in Blue Bell is pretty unpretentious, simple, clean plates of food. Great summer place to eat too. Another good place is the Blue Horse, at 73 and Blue Bell Pike, good solid American with enough flair to keep you interested, and damn good shrimp dishes, as I recall.

Thanks for the tip. I'm up that way often enough to make it worthwhile.

We wound up punting and going to an unknown quantity, La Fontana in Collegeville. Reviews were mixed, but father was happy, and so, all was bliss.
