  1. If you are looking for something within walking distance, Pod and Distrito are both good options with "different" menus...
  2. Not sure why they have been closed, but I called today on a whim and spoke to someone there who confirmed they were open... unfortunately, there was no opportunity for back-and-forth dialog, due to language barriers...
  3. We went there two weeks ago on a Sunday and there was a "closed" sign on the door (the hanging kind that has "open" on one side and "closed" on the other), but the place appeared to be intact. Called this weekend and got a generic answering machine message. Anyone have information on their status?
  4. Didn't take a photo, but was at Cajun Kate's on Friday, and their Brisket Po Boy can stand its ground vs. the Philly Cheesesteak or Roast Pork... the combination of the brisket's juices with the "fully dressed" liquids creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts...
  5. called Dante's today... disconnected... sigh...
  6. I learned yesterday from a neighbor that Elevation is located in the space previously occupied by Alex Long - in the Wynnewood Shopping center, on the short side parallel to E. Wynnewood Road by Gamestop and the Barber.
  7. I checked Google maps, and it appears they are in the Wynnewood Shopping Center, home of Old Navy, and many eateries, including Sam's, Santa Fe Burrito, Poppi's, and Delancy Street Bagel.. can anyone confirm??
  8. Holly, there was a thread about this a while back...
  9. I stopped by Dante's on friday and was not in the mood for ribs for lunch, so I picked up a pulled pork sandwich... top-notch... not dried out, excellent smoked flavor, and a nice blend of hot/mild sauces.
  10. Went to Rx this weekend. Everything was delicious. The only negative was that after the server came to the table to tell us the specials, he returned for our order and to tell us they were out of the appy we were going to order (calimari - on the menu) as well as one of the specials (the ribs). This was at 8:00 on Saturday. The owner was very nice, and visited with an explanation after we asked the waiter how you run out of a menu staple on a Sat. night. Salads (beet salad, romaine) were good but VERY small for the price ($8). The Waluu, Monk fish and the steak were all very good. Desserts (chocolate bread pudding and some form of banana pie) were also really tasty, and a comped apple crisp baked thingy was appreciated. Will definitely go back for ribs, but will call ahead and reserve the order.
  11. There are two threads that discuss favorite Starr restaurants: Thread One Thread Two It is likely a question of menu preference, as (IMHO) you were handed a "can't miss" gift. I have always had a good meal at Buddakhan.
  12. Stopped by yesterday for a 'Po Boy, and I must say that their Brisket Po 'Boy is a work of art... IMHO that sandwich can stand up to the signature cheesesteak or pork sandwich that any establishment puts forward.
  13. Stopped by there today for the first time. Had 1/2 a Po-Boy and took home gumbo, jambalaya and cajun mac-n-cheese for dinner. Nectar of the gods!
  14. thinking about heading to Kate's this afternoon to pick up dinner. Can anyone comment on how crowded they are and will they be sold out of things?
