We are going to AC Feb 16 & 17th for my birthday. Staying at the Tropicana in the Havana Tower. Has anyone stayed there yet? Looking for upscale place to have dinner. How do we make sure we get a room with a view and an upgrade? Anyone seen there show Havana After Dark?

Thanks

Linda,

As to dining: The Quarters at The Trop now has:

The Palm Steakhouse, PF Changs, Carmines (casual italian); Cuba Libre and a few more.

Have fun

Old Homestead, @ the Borgata. You should be ok getting a reservation now, given you're travelling on a Wed/Thurs (the best way to do AC!). The price tag is similar to the one in NYC, the food is just as good, and the service is better.

To get a room with a view and upgrade, .... convice someone, or let someone know, that you gamble like a whale, and/or, pay for the upgrade.

Happy Birthday!

Do a search on AC in this forum. Plenty of info.

Docks Oyster House is well worth the 5 minute cab ride for dinner. Forget the rest, Dock's is the best.

If you're willing to stray from the Tropicana, I'd also recommend Dock's. Very good raw bar and seafood. Reservations are a must.

V and I stayed at the Trop over New Years. Food wise it's the usual casino fare as far as I'm concerned. We ate at Carmine's, grabbed raw oysters and clams at the raw bar upstairs in the Quarter and got comped at Wellington's the next night.

Carmine's is decent and casual.

The Raw Bar upstairs in the Quarter isn't bad, prices are good when you finally do want a real beer, not watered down casino beer

And Wellington's I enjoyed - slightly upscale but decent food!!!

As for upgrades and comps... Join the Tropicana Diamond Club (downstairs in the Quarter), that way upgrades and comps come quicker just dont forget to use the card.

Cheers

Tom
