I was wondering about places with large comfortable bars where you can have a drink and also have dinner. We've been to An American Grill and sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. Likewise with Rooney's down south, Marco Polo and even Nero's. What recommendations does anyone else have?

Ambiance CAN be as important as the food!

Love Rooney's in Long Branch. The view at night is just spectacular.

One of my favorites for a drink is Authur's Landing, in Weehawken. You just can't top that NYC Skyline View!

Thanks for the welcome, Rosie. Frank's was on my list to try, but I did'nt know they had a good bar too.

The Bistro at The Ryland Inn has a beautiful and comfortable bar with a pianist playing show tunes. The food is good and prices reasonable, but you can also go just for a drink. The only night it's closed is Saturday.
