Neisson's from Martinique

Recommended Posts

Has anyone in the forum tasted rums from the Neisson Distillery in Martinique ? I've just got the XO 1988 vintage & the 1991 vintage. I'd love to hear your opinions. I personally thought that they were some of the finest rums (rhums) that I've ever tasted. The Saint Ettienne Gold Aged, from the same island, is not that bad either. In 2 days ,at my bar in London, I have already converted 20 Cognac drinkers on to these 3 products already.

Yes, I have the Rhum Blanc and the XO, which I brought home back from my recent trip to Saint Martin.

The blanc makes a perfect Ti Punch and the XO is as good as it gets for rhum vieux.

It's funny you should mention the Blanc for a ti punch as I made a couple this evening for some of my customers. As for the XO, I couldn't agree more...

Those Neisson rhums were aged about 12 years, and that's why they are so expensive. Great sipping rum with a little water. The distillery has been upgraded since then and production is growing and I expect in the future the rhum won't be aged as long as those older vintages.

Surprisingly the St Etienne is only aged about three years but it starts out as a very different rhum compared to Neisson.
