Macaron / Macaroon tower help needed. Must be silver and pink!

Hello! I have been asked to create a macaron tower for a birthday party. Having found a macaron tower to hire that holds 200+ macarons, I am now needing to work out how to make the macarons fit the party theme of pink and silver. I am concerned with making silver macarons out of the fear that they will look grey! I was thinking that I could potentially make pink macarons (with passionfruit flavoured filling) and either use colour mist food spray by Wilton (silver) to spray on the outside or paint a strip of silver using edible glitter on the outside of the macaron. Has anyone used these products before or would know which might work best? Not to mention any macaron help in general. Thanks!

I can't answer any of your questions, but I'm sure someone or several someones will be along who can.  In the meantime - while we're waiting for the experienced bakers to turn up - you may find this topic valuable: Macarons: Troubleshooting & Tips.

Hello and welcome!  I've made silver macaron by using the edible food sprays from either Wilton, Americolor, ChefMaster or PME.  I like the PME best because it is a truer silver; the others have a blue cast to them.  Make the shells a gray color and the silver spray will add dimension to it. It's easy to arrange the baked shells very close together and just spray the whole pan, let them dry for a few minutes then fill.

And that stand you are renting - if it's the one I have (clear plastic, concentric circles that looks a little like a donut or a wreath and the center part of the circle fits to the one above it) the macaron need to be sized to fit.  So pipe smallish rounds, maybe about 1.5" at most.

Macarons can be made with food dye mixed in to the batter as well; a blend of black and blue food dyes could be mixed ahead of time and added to the macaron batter as the very last step to create the silver look.  A strawberry curd filling or buttercream filling could be made for the pink filling; if you would like a darker pink filling (close to a magenta look), you may wish to try a raspberry curd filling as well.    Here is a recipe for an almond raspberry curd macaron whose curd filling recipe can easily be substituted with strawberries - http://thymetobake.com/?p=125
