Walkers Crisps

Bit of a UK specific one this, but Walkers crisps are running a campaign to get the public to vote for a new flavour crisp (Chips to our American cousins)

It's a very clever bit of marketing, they have got special display stands for them and a lot of Pubs are stocking all 6 'contenders' as well as selling variety bags in supermarkets. I have seen a lot of people buying all 6 and getting into heated debates.

The flavours on offer are

* Builder's Breakfast (Red)

* Cajun Squirrel (Green)

* Chilli & Chocolate (Brown)

* Crispy Duck & Hoi Sin (Purple)

* Fish & Chips (Orange)

* Onion Bhaji (Blue)

They are all fairly tasty - except the Chilli and chocolate, which is just wrong (I like the flavour combination in general, but on a crisp it just feels weird).

Winner for me at the moment are the Onion Bhaji one.

Anyone else got any opinions?

I've only tried the chili and chocolate ones, the squirrel ones and the hoisin duck ones. I didn't really like any of them, though the squirrels were ok. The chili chocolate flavour is very clever, you can really taste both flavours but it doesn't work for crisps! Same with the hoisin/duck IMO. Their flavour development people deserve full marks for effort but about 2/10 for achievement

I gotta ask: What's a builder's breakfast?

Also, squirrel? Really? Or is that some kind of euphamism? How would one synchronize the flavor of squirrel, on a chip?

Builder's breakfast is an English fry up.

The Cajun flavour involves no essence of actual squirrel!

Tried them all...

1)Onion Bhaji (not strong enough for my liking).

2)Builders Breakfast (enjoyed the various flavours especially got the egg & bean, technically the best)

3)Crispy duck & Hoi sin (star anise flavour)

4)Fish & chips (gone off fish finger/thai fish sauce and vinegar)

5)Cajun Squirrel (achingly underwhelming)

6)Chocolate & chilli (like kissing your Gran with tongues. Yes that wrong.)
