I'm about to head on over the pond , and if I could ask the indulgence of folks for some quick opinions. I have a reservation at L'Arpege for next week, but after having read what people have said about Eric Frechon, I have become interested in dining at Le Bristol. Unfortunately, I have only one evening, so it is one or the other - any views on priorities between them.

Thanks!

If I were you, I would stick with L'Arpege which I think is the best restaurant in the world. The only part that Bristol is better - they have better dining rooms and serve more sweets/chocolates at the end. I've been to both, so please look at the pictures below. Hopefully, these would help you to get the idea of what kind of food/dishes you would get in both places

Arpege - here

Bristol - here

I agree with BPS that l'arpège is most of the time otherwordly (pricewise too alas). Le Bristol is great too but for a much more traditional meal, if still modern. As much as I love le Bristol, l'Arpège is the "four Michelin stars" category, foodwise. There are misses but this is the independent restaurant of a unique artist. I personally do not care about the setting of l'Arpège, though. In addition to Bu's pictures of both restaurants, you will also find recent pictures l'Arpège here (as much as I hate referering to blogs of others  ). Pictures of le Bristol are actually rare, so thanks, Bu.
