Looking for some group recommendations ... thanks in advance.

Saturday lunch, three women celebrating a big-deal birthday! Anthos was our first choice, but they don't serve lunch on Saturdays. A Voce was #2 (i know, it's not midtown) -- but they too are closed. Price isn't a huge concern; we just want a really special, delicious meal/place to celebrate.

weekend lunch is tough...especially with most places that are open just serving ripoff brunch items (i.e. EMP).

Perry Street or Bar Room at the Modern or Lupa might be the best that you can do.

Don't know what mid-townish would mean to you, but we had a wonderful lunch at Cafe Arte on West 73th between Columbus and Amsterdam. They are open for lunch on weekends. Here is the website.

Cooking is like love, it should be entered into with abandon, or not at all.

How about the new Landmarc in the TWC? May not be quite as fancy as you're going for, but based on the photos, it probably has a great view...

Again, perhaps too casual, but La Goulue (64th and Madison) is a natural choice for lunch. davidburke & donatella is open for lunch on Saturdays, as is Tocqueville down on 15th Street.

Some of these aren't strictly midtown, but they're easily accessible...
