  1. That is a bit of a bummer for frying purposes. I do enjoy the feedback aspect of it though as opposed to a standard induction burner. Yeah it's kind of a ghost town over at FirstBuild for the Paragon. I think the Six Pack was an option to order 6 of them.
  2. Not home at the moment but I recall both the probe and mat topping off at 375F. But if you don't use them you can go higher. A couple winters ago I had it running for hours boiling down maple sap for syrup in the carport.
  3. Hope you like it! I'm a fan. Also, hope things look up.
  4. It's at $99.
  5. His description of this book is definitely worth a listen. It was on my to-do to seek it out. Thanks for saving me the trouble!
  6. So FirstBuild wound up not shipping to you? That's a bummer. R C Willey might ship, and the price will be nicer if it goes back on sale.
  7. Keep an eye here: https://www.rcwilley.com/Appliances/Small-Kitchen-Appliances/Other/111161703/FirstBuild-Paragon-Induction-Cooktop-View It's an induction hub with a Bluetooth probe/mat for semi-precision temperature feedback. I got a second backup unit from them in May when it was $99. Worth it. Not currently worth $350. Hopefully it will drop again.
  8. What price range are you looking for?

    New Anova Pro

Yeah it's a mystery why they took such a drastic step backwards w/Nova vs. Precision Cooker in terms of useability.

You're talking about the Nano here, right?
  11. Just got a copy yesterday. Beautiful photos, good information. There's a couple things in here I can't wait to try out. Good job, Rob!
  12. The Paragon is barely on the FirstBuild site anymore. That is a shame, I really like mine.
  13. You think they're clearing out the plastic ones to make way for the metal ones (KSMMGA)?
  14. This is what happens, Larry, when you [find a stranger in the alps].
  15. I have the exact same one. Got it off eBay for less than $3. Love it. Edit: Here's the original: https://www.suckukstore.com/collections/kitchen/products/key-bottle-opener
  16. I'm currently using mine to keep a batch of chicken stock warm to sip on while I'm fighting my annual sinus infection.
  17. Absolutely this. Gentle. If you need a 'detox' from troubles, this is definitely a good antidote.
  18. Nice! I am hoping they release the max as a 3Q, I already have an 8Q Ultra.
  19. Nice. How about Staghorn Sumac, y'all use that? It's pretty great and nearly identical to what you can get in a middle eastern market.
  20. Do you use the whole berry or just the flesh around the seed? How/what do you do with it?
  21. I'm pretty happy with my FirstBuild Paragon.
  22. So Edward Lee is coming to The Shack on 1/30 and 1/31 but they are already full up on reservations. Bummer!
  23. Too funny, I laughed when I saw that pic. We have them in the lab, too. Edit: Sharps containers, not Nanos.
  24. What's a good everyday sipping bargain bottle these days?
  25. I get it, I thought about the Joule. I love the different heating element technology they use but the phone-only connectivity was the dealbreaker for me. If they ever release one with physical controls, that’ll be a different story.
