  1. I don't think it was the location. I never cared for the food at 973 and was surprised it stayed open so long. Who was there before 973?
  2. Yes.
  3. Thanks for the information. Sounds like this place is worth going to.

    Corso 98

As a bit of history Lowell and I happened onto Corso 98 the first day or maybe one of the first few days they opened. We drove by the restaurant and it looked so charming that we decided to try it. We walked in at 5 PM and they weren't going to open until 5:30. A waiter and Elio gave us the "cooks tour" introducing us to the staff and to "mama." "Mama" gave us a plate of cookies and asked us to return in a half-hour. Who could turn down a request like that?
  5. Phone #?
  6. OK--Is this going to definetely be on Thurs. 9/18 at 1 PM???
  7. Ditto Tapas De España.
  8. I'm wondering, from the title of your book, "Soul Food: Recipes and Reflections from African-American Churches," what influence has religion had on soul food?" Thanks for participating in this Q&A.
  9. BYO
  10. No kids. Been to Jaleo and loved the tapas.

    Corso 98

"we had to ask for bottled rather than tap water " I have found that most restaurants push bottled water and I always have to ask for tap water! Thanks for the report. Glad you enjoyed your dinner.
  12. Monster Sushi 395 Springfield Ave Summit 908-598-1100 BYO Allan--Do you take reservations and what are your hours?
  13. These recommendations are great. Keep them coming. We will be there for a wedding at the end of Oct. Because I am planning this for family members of all ages I thought I would be able to keep it to $50 but see that I need to raise my price to $75.
  14. Zoe's By The Lake, 112 Tomahawk Trail, Sparta is having a Seneca Lake Restoration fundraiser on Monday, September 15, at 7:15 PM. Elegant Six Course Dinner & Bordeaux 2000 Wine Tasting; $125 per person. All proceeds of this charitable fundraiser will go directly to the Seneca Lake Club to support the lake reconstruction. For Tickets/Information, please call 973.726.7226.
  15. Will be in DC and am in charge of finding restaurants for a group of eight people. Ethnic is fine. Not looking for very formal or expensive. Up to $50 a person would be acceptable.
  16. How about a report? I haven't unpacked yet and need to go through 100+ emails. To be brief. I liked the wine at Wine Cask--a Stage Coach Veraison-- better than the food. Sage and Onion was fine but not fine enough to bring me back there. Really enjoyed the food, presentation and sauces at Downey's. In Ojai Suzanne's was great. I was on vacation so will need to pull up the menus to remember what we ate.
  17. Was recently in Santa Barbara. I can highly recommend Downey's.
  18. Sorry to hear that as Iron Monkey was such a fun place to dine and I enjoyed the cuisine of Chef Asbel Reyes on many occasions.
  19. Health Salad Serves 10 as Salad. This salad is great for BBQ's and picnics. Marinade 8 tsp salt 1/2 c water 1-1/2 c white vinegar 1 c oil 1 c sugar Mix all together and pour over: 1 medium head green cabbage shredded 1 large onion sliced 2 carrots sliced 1 green peppers slivered 2 peeled cucumber sliced I like to make this 2 to 4 days before serving and turn the container over a few times a day so that the marinade is distributed throughout the vegetables. You can add or take away vegetables to your taste. For ex. if you like carrots put in more carrots. The recipe can be doubled. If you are serving alot of sides this recipe can easily feed 20 people. Keywords: Salad, Vegetarian, Easy, Vegetables ( RG604 )

  25. There was an article (p64) in the Star Ledger 8/27 about "Marc's Cheesecakes." Anyone been? They sound wonderful. Which places in NJ have the best cheesecakes? Who remembers the cheesecakes they served at Weequahic Diner?
