Provincetown, the "Outer Cape," and Wellfleet Too
MetsFan5 replied to a topic in New England: Dining
@liamsaunt is husband’s brother single? 😂 Amazing food as always. I miss dining out mainly because I cannot shuck oysters. -
Thanks! But unfortunately I live in Northern NJ. My dinner tonight was shredded romaine lettuce with chicken, avocado, fresh corn, tomatoes and avocado. Essentially a chopped salad.
-
@Norm Matthews would you be interested in a daughter or a much younger wife? 😉 It all looks so good!!
-
@Kim Shook I totally remember those turnovers! We’d have them for dessert in the 1980s and early 90s because my mom made two dinners most evenings due to my father’s poultry allergy. Can you tell me more about the roasted corn?

They have Fairways in NJ. They’re all closed or are closing. They’ve never really been exclusive to NYC. Also afaik the Union Square farmers market never really shut down. But I get avoiding it for safety reasons— I used to work around the corner and it was always a mad house.

I think they serve the same dish at Parm as well. Looks great.

Canned bacon actually exists? Gosh and I thought my bad idea of ordering a pizza at 1am would take the cake for today! Especially since I’m 1- no longer hungry (I didn’t eat yesterday) and 2- am nodding off from exhaustion!!
-
Idk I grew up going to LBI and I’m from NJ.
-
I’m literally gagging at the thought of that canned veggie cone.
-
I would pay a lot of money for a dinner like that.
-
I’ve done that as well!
-
@Toliver that’s exactly what I drink. It’s delicious and I have mixed it with various juices.
-
I don’t bake so I always use salted butter. And sometimes and more butter and salt than needed. A nicely toasted English muffin heavily buttered with a sprinkling of sea salt is a thing of beauty.
-
@Shelby I am absolutely craving that prosciutto wrapped melon. My best friends father eats it all summer long. I wonder if I went to visit him and not my parents (they live on the same street) if I could get away with it!

Sprite is also an occasional treat for me but non diet. Diet rootbeer, especially Stewart’s is a treat too. I figure my affection for diet ginger ale cannot be as bad for me as the 60 plus ounces of Diet Coke I’d guzzle constantly in lieu of food when I worked in Manhattan. Then again I was 100lbs so I wouldn’t mind being that size again. I just can’t do caffeine anymore.

A club sandwich as far as I care can be on anything. A croissant sounds delicious! Whike I object to the cheese, to each their own.

I went on a “date” tonight without someone I had met before. We had the “burger bites” which were mini burgers with arugula, goat cheese and spicy Mayo with waffle fries as a bun. Delicious!
-
The only soda I drink is diet ginger ale. I cut all caffeine out of my diet and I used to live off Diet Coke. It exacerbates my anxiety. Everything I drink is diet except seltzer which I drink a lot of and obviously water and wine.

That’s so sad about the donkeys! ☹️ The food looks amazing, as usual. I hope the weather doesn’t get too bad!

Hanger steak is delicious. It’s also a popular one at my butcher who does it in a great marinade. I have one in my freezer but am clueless as to use my big green egg.

I live in outside of a highly populated town and Whole Foods delivery to me has never been available. And I’m fine with that. I use Instacart and get Wegmans, Kings (a high end grocery store), ShopRite and Aldi as well as Petsmart, Sephora and Big Lots to name a few. I’ve always found WF to be too limited for me to complete an order. Ironically I have two WF stores within 3 miles of my home so should I ever get the urge I can simply go there. I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

Are those prices in USD? $24 for a six pack is outrageous! A resort I stayed in in Jamaica had tons of peacocks. They’re gorgeous but can be loud and not particularly friendly.
-
@Kim Shook I’ve used those before and they’re good. I used them for fondue.

No lie I had spaghetti-o’s for dinner last night. Revoke my “foodie” (I hate that word) card, I know it’s gross.
