Cabinet hardware went in yesterday. Can LED lights are in. Some outlets cannot be installed as the tile guy cut the holes too small. That should be fixed tomorrow. And stove and refrigerator will be delivered and installed tomorrow. Faucet was installed and subjected to a cat scan @chromedome . Contractor said I should be able to cook on Friday. I expect it will be later than that as all kitchen tools need to be unpacked and find a home

@Toliver thanks for enabling. I know I have the Laurie Colwin book around here somewhere but it's much easier to find on Kindle

@Shelby the floor is offset rectangular tile. There is a photo upthread, it's a medium brown color. Never thought of myself as a fan of brown decor but the backsplash steered me in that direction. I'll happily send you my son if you send him home with venison! He's very OCD about this project, while I'm more trusting and Pollyanna-Ish and believe all will be good. Probably a good combination for this project.

Floor tile is in and grouted. Backsplash is grouted. Some sloppiness which my son, the overseer pointed out. Also he found a couple of imperfections in the cabinet work so contractor came by tonight and will replace. Also had a cat inspection.

I'll have a dishwasher. The only appliance not being replaced. The one I have is only two years old, it's currently sitting outside a tarp to protect it from our much needed rain. Floor is mostly in today but no pictures as we can't go in there until tomorrow. Contractor has extended completion date by one week, hopefully next Friday.

It's this sink http://www.us.kohler.com/us/Riverby-33-x-22-x-9-5-8-under-mount-single-bowl-kitchen-sink-with-accessories/productDetail/kitchen-sinks/429153.htm?skuId=415401&brandId=432893

@MelissaH I agree, you can always change a large sink with the use of a dishpan you cannot make a divided sink into a larger one. This sink comes with some wire baskets and a couple of plastic container things that looks like they are for silverware. It's been a while sink I selected the sink so my memory is faulty.

Exhaust hood installed today. There is some stainless cover for the ducting that should have been ordered, but was not. Hopefully it will arrive this week. Photo is crooked because I was holding the work light in one hand and camera phone in the other. This is the best of several attempts.

@Smithy I may have a pull out pantry but you are traveling the country in style. Love seeing your adventures.
-
@IndyRobI need more cats. Although Miss Ella is such a princess, she'd probably be put out.

Cabinets are in! Finally feels like something is being done, rather than torn apart. Poor lighting since those are not in yet. you can see Ella the cat checking out the pull out pantry

I can't figure out how to turn on the lights, perhaps there is is no electricity. Drywall is done and mostly mudded. So @Porthosthese are for you the engineer. Hopefully more progress next week.

Oh geez. I really want to check my 37-38 year old and my 7 year old Cusi's but everything is packed up during the kitchen remodel. Hopefully I remember to register for a new one once I can find them.

@MetsFan5its just me. So I get to make all decisions, probably why I hired designers, I have no iidea what I'm doing.

It's pretty boring right now. Drywall is in and I think skim coat was appplied today. Probably texture tomorrow. Didn't know I had choices for that but the designers helped with that. Backsplash tile showed up in boxes on the dining room floor. Cabinets should be installed on the 22nd if all goes according to schedule. So far the GC has been accurate with that.

@ElsieD that's the Italian Wedding Soup recipe I always use. The dill adds a nice spark.

Things are progressing but photos are boring unless you like to see electrical wiring. My son is working at his real job all day and then working until midnight on my job. The only thing the contractor did today was remove a lot of debris in my small condo yard and ask for another check. And a change order for jack hammering the water outlet out of the slab since the fridge is moving. Dinner is leftover IP pasta with pesto and wine. I think the wine helps keep the dust down. Or perhaps the wine helps me not care that dust is everywhere

We did have traps and poison in the attic quite a while ago. I think it died an unnatural death and desiccated. No real progress to show today. The venting for the fan was moved but boring for pictures. However son's girlfriend is cooking salmon in the CSO and pasta with pesto in the IP for dinner. I'm impressed since I've not been that adventurous since the remodel started. I went to a going away party tonight and had enough appetizers and wine that I'm going to bed and will not see the results

@Norm Matthews. Chili looks very appetizing. And I just saw the very same placemats at my neighbors.

The boyfriends dog has dispatched 3 chickens so we have to be careful when entering the coop or the big German Shepard follows us in. The chickens are in a custom built coop and have lots of laying boxes and room to roam. And we grow organic kale and greens for them.
-
I've really enjoyed this @Shelby. The kill what you eat and eat what you kill seems meaningful to me but am not there yet and probably will never be. The boyfriend is a gardener and not a hunter. We have 15 chickens and get about a dozen eggs a day- some are young. We are growing a lot of what we eat but have a long way to go before we reach your level of living off the land.

my son is doing the electrical this weekend. Can lights are in. Power for fridge, micro/convection oven and dishwasher is in. Also pictured is what my son calls an ' artifact of remodeling', a rat skeleton. Yuck
