  1. Some of yesterday's pickage. Lemon cukes, Armenian cukes and regular cukes. Yellow cherry tomatoes and Italian peppers. Basil is cleaned and in the fridge ready for pesto making.
  2. First batch of dehydrated plums. They taste great and have all been consumed in two days. Now two more large bags to process. May have to get another dehydrator
  3. Then the small collection of cucumbers the largesse of lemons and excess of eggs, we have chickens too. Lemon curd is on the way.
  4. Part of the plethora of plums, soon to be dehydrated.
  5. Oh hallelujah! I can't wait to see every food adventure and cocktail.
  6. Thanks all for the plum ideas @djyee100 @Thanks for the Crepes, @heidih, @kayb, @JoNorvelleWalker. And @Anna N that is the plum torte I mistakenly called plum cake. We've been out of town all week and the heat in Northern Calif ripened the plums. Picking, dehydrating and then freezing some until I have time to make jam/ chutney/something
  7. @kayb thanks that's a great idea. Just got a dehydrator
  8. @Shelbyif you or anyone has any ideas for hundreds of plums, I'd love to hear them. We still have plum jam from last year. The NY times plum cake is a staple. We're thinking of having a plum picking party just to offload them.
  9. And the never dying oregano
  10. The cukes. Some of the tomatoes and some, just some of the thousand plums
  11. @shelby. Sorry for your garden loss. Have lurked and watched it grow for a couple of years. Seems like you have a plan to restore most of it. Am glad for you. Our stuff The basil
  12. @heidih it was 2 cups chopped kumquats, 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 cup water. Added some star anise. Mir was the simplest version I could find by googling. But it was very good. You're lucky to have been gifted. Kumquats are pricey buggers
  13. I have a friend with a kumquat so made preserves/jam
  14. How nice to see you again. I've missed your posts.
  15. I just joined the club thanks to the Amazon deal! Now have to go back and re-read everyone's posts
  16. Saw the initial postings, then got busy with work/life and was thrilled to rediscover the thread. The plum tart looks great. Have 3 plum trees ready to ripen in a couple of weeks and will certainly be using that recipe. Thanks!
  17. Thank you for all the desert photos. I spent some time in Deming, Tucumcari, las cruces and El Paso in my (long ago) teen age years. Your adaptability with cooking while camping is incredible.
  18. Another great trip, another great blog. Thanks for all the adventures!
  19. I have lurked on egullet for so long, it's shameful but after your post that you think folks are bored when you don't get many responses, I had to join. I love following your time in Manitoulin and elsewhere. Thanks for the effort you put into this .
