  1. No soup at new years day, I couldn't get hold on neeps at all. *sigh*
  2. Licorice macaroons with vanilla filling?
  3. I just made a type of truffle cake with dulce de leche and chocolate ganache and gave to my neighbour for theirs new years eve.
  4. So why do we need wine to make a good dinner? I dont. We have an alcohol free night club here in Sweden, I find such thing great. I find this an excellent idea, great that get to do something positive with their time and a chance to get away from friends and surroundings that ended them up in jail in the first when they get out.
  5. Darienne, we all have times when the brain goes on holiday without telling us. I tried Mac'n Cheese again, nah still dislike it, why did I put in my mouth even? Urgh.. I got handed it at the store at their test kitchen, today lactose free Mac and cheese and NO. I dont like it, never have and most likely never will.
  6. Shelby the crust looks like the crust I want for my apple pie, recipe please!! Does it cover the bottom too? Chocomom, the recipe is so easy I cup all natural peanut butter ( non sweetened) , 1 cup of sugar, 1 large whisked egg. I use this recipe minus the salt on top, I add a pinch of salt to the mix. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/claire-robinson/flourless-peanut-butter-cookies-recipe.html
  7. Peanut cookies dipped in chocolate are now on the way to a friend, I hope he loves them.
  8. My first cookbook ever was Vi bakar och lagar mat. ( We bake and cook food), yes it is a kids cookbook but at age 3 you have to start some where and my second cookbook is a really good starter cookbook called Vår Kokbok ( our cookbook) and it explains even complicated cooking in a easy and understandable way. Without these books none of the other cook books would have felt so easy to tackle.
  9. I got a toffee tea with gold sugar balls... I prefer black tea blends or smoked tea and well it wasnt that bad but not that yummy.
  10. I got crumpets rings, mini pots with lids, a proper pie tin with lip and few other goodies.
  11. Well on New years day, we are going to have lentil soup, same dinner as we had as newly engaged and since it is 5 years anniversary we are going to make it.
  12. I used Valio lactose free over here, it is really creamy and lovely. And a few months ago they two companies who make great Turkish and Greek yoghurt came out with a lactose free version, woho!.
  13. Well lets make a broad thread about nibbles, lunch, dinner, dessert and drinks. What are you going to have? Menu here is pretty set. Lunch will be raclette with bread, salad and pommac to drink, pommac is a Swedish none alcoholic alternative to champagne, even though it doesn't taste like but it has a more grown up flavour then normal sodas. Dinner, pulled pork stuffed into pita bread with lettuce and vegetable and sour cream sauce ginger ale or more pommac and for dessert chocolate fondue with marshmallow, pound cake and banana, is there anything else we could dip that isnt out of season berries? Nibbles, we are think nuts since the kid likes it.
  14. Oh I used tamarind juice I got hold of and used instead of lime. It is rather common substitute for lime .
  15. I'm allergic as you know to citrus, but I use tamarind in sauces, curries and other things that ask for lime as an acid. I even made lovely drinks with it.
  16. Oh the last of Swedish Christmas will be 13 of January! Yes I will also post the end celebration of Christmas.
  17. Rlibkind: well close enough I am less then 2 hours from Denmark and this used to be Denmark once.... so it is oki. My village name is actually Danish, it comes from a old word for over grown lake or wet bog and then been misspelled and mispronounced over the years.

    Christmas 2014

    Merry Christmas to you all
  19. Breakfast this morning.... the robots are taking over!!!!
  20. JoNorvelleWalker: It is all about the food for me.
  21. When it comes to cooking ham, I do the frozen method. It is easier and produce a great results. I bake it with 1 litre of water, covered in the oven from frozen, it takes 8- 10 hours and all I do for the first 7 is sleep. Today we will be eating left overs and enjoying it.
  22. If you eat milk and egg there is a vegetable paté recipe in the Swedish Christmas thread. Vegetable pate, peaballs, false veal ( fried and breaded parsnips) , coleslaw, beetroot salad, kale salad and vegetable brawn is what we used to serve my lakto ovio vegetarian grandmother and she loved it.
  23. Elsie: my brawn is made of cured ham hock, it is in a very salty brine and if I remember head cheese is more like our press sylta.
