This is batch 21, same recipe as batch 20?

Yes, batch 21.  Same recipe but fresh bags of apricots and almonds.  The night I noticed the benzaldehyde I had measured out a bit more orgeat than usual for my mai tai.  The flavor has not been as pronounced since.

Tonight I may try increasing the amount of orgeat and see what happens.  The downside of increasing the orgeat is I may run out of orgeat sooner.

    That's ours.

I always thought it looked like a Pokemon.  That really pissed off my son when he was of that age.

Does yours play "twinkle twinkle little star" when it starts?

Yes, that is the default, however other musical selections are options.

I took my sprouted sweet potato, cut the end with the sprouts off, and plunked it in a glass.  This is it right now.  I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with this I did it just for fun.  What do you do with it?

Probably the same thing you do with a sprouted avocado.

    Soooooo;

    the clock

    knows where I am ?

and , insists on a Massage first ?

As mentioned previously the non user replaceable battery of my older Zojirushi passed on long ago.  The device has lost all concept of sidereal motion.  Yet when I press the start button, the display still faithfully counts down and when done it plays a cheerful tune.

Im doing GABA Basmati Brown  ( TJ' rice )

as my first 3C induction test run

Ill report later   3 hrs or more , but nothing for me to do !

my question on the Zo's :

can you ' set ' the clock / timer to show you

    a count-down to done ?

granted , it would be fuzzy , and change a bit during a cycle

or is that not possible.     3 + hours cooks :  it be nice to see time left

    even if its Fuzzy .

On both my Zojirushi rice cookers count-down mode is how the timers work by default.  Strange that yours does not.  You are correct the time estimates change a bit during the cycle.

  7. Diner tonight was corn on the cob.  The ears from last night's Whole Foods delivery were rather small, and I thought I might not have selected them myself.  However they were quite good.

The accompanying music was Shubert's Trout Quintet.  My reading material was Harold McGee's Nose Dive, A Field Guide to the World's Smells.  I preordered the book when it first came out but am only now getting around to reading.

"Mildly fishy putrescine, a four-carbon chain, turns out not to be particularly putrid.  When exposed to the air, it's quickly oxidized to form a stronger-smelling ring compound, pyrroline, which is found in and smells of human semen.  Pyrroline is also an important volatile in the smell of human skin...as well as the aroma of boiled corn."

    I may never eat again.

I have a question for anyone who has grown okra.  It's actually for a friend of mine, but anyway, he's growing 12 okra plants. 2 of the plants are producing pods that he says are hard like pieces of wood.  The pods are like 9" long.  The other plants seem to be fine and normal.  Any ideas what's going on?

I used to grow okra in pots on my balcony.  If the pods are 9" long, they are wood.  As @Shelby said, pick when a couple inches long...and don't turn your back.

does anybody know if any of the Zo's have

    flat bottoms ?

another way to phrase the question

do the Zo's make a Persian style rice , with a browned , crispy ( not burnt ) bottom ?

My older NP-NVC18 has a scorch setting that is said to make a crispy bottom.  The option is removed in the NW-JEC10BA.

For Persian rice it might be better to find a Persian rice cooker or a Persian grandmother.

Ahh, I've never looked that closely at the supplied cup. But I imagine just "eyeballing" something is not in @JoNorvelleWalker's repertoire.

As @palo said, I eyeballed the markings on the little cup.  As much as I revere exactitude, when it comes to rice in the Zojirushi I could measure by handsful and I'm sure get good results.

Hey Jo, how late do I have to stay up to find out how it turned out?

    p

No different than had I'd paid attention to the little marks on the bowl.  But then again, maybe had I added that extra 2.9395191585274 ml water...

I called Zojirushi a few years back and I was told the ratio was 1 to 1.5 - so 1 go of rice to 1.5 go of water - has worked for me and use the white rice setting in the menu

    p

For tonight's Basmati I'm assaying the 1 to 1.5 rice to water ratio.  For 3/4 go of rice I added 200 ml water.*  Cooking as we speak.  I'm waiting for the cheerful tune.

*OK, I know that should actually have been 202.9395191585274 ml water, but it's late and I hadn't had my mai tai yet.
