    All About Cassoulet

I was also thinking of chucking the Kielbasa. It gives me the willies if not burned.
  2. Please watch your language, young men! Definitely disregard the salt one. It will only dry out if you salt it and let it hang out for a long while. And what's the worst that could happen to burnt pepper?

    Popcorn at home

Suzanne, do you think you could skip the container in the microwave? Where's Dave the Cook? Also, you can rehydrate kernels by putting them in a large glass bottle with a couple of tablespoons of water (1per cup?) and roll or shake the bottle twice a day or so. It should be fine in a few days.

    All About Cassoulet

Stella, sorry if this is a silly question, but is that 4 thighs in ADDITION to 4 legs? And medium/low would be around where (275)? And for approximately how many hours (6)? Sounds great.

    Pureéd Hell?

    You misread my post.
  6. Actually I should have mentioned that I don't do drunks. There's no point. It'll just exacerbate the situation. But that could be fun too.

    Bacon wrapped filet

Shame on you for throwing away good bacon!

    Seasonal Employment

Any resort town will be hiring for the summer. It may be easiest to go and then look for work. At least that's what I've always done, and always had sucess. Cape Cod is big in that way. Google chambers of commerce in whatever town you're thinking of and they'll tell you how to go about it. And it's never too early to look for housing. Keep us posted.

    Pureéd Hell?

Is there a problem with his eating meat? I understood that he just had to eat pureed foods, not change his diet. If this is the case, why not make stews and soups? If he doesn't have any dietary restrictions, you can puree almost anything he is used to eating. If I had to change to pureed food, I'd be far more willing to eat if the taste was familliar rather than bland nasty spooge like most pureed foods. Make the changes slowly in this regard.
  10. Rachel, I looked at CR Buying Guide 2002, and it says Sharp is the biggest seller with 30% of sales, followed by GE, Kenmore, Panasonic. It does not, however, give a break down. Anything you want me to look up specifically? It's too long to type.
  11. What I meant by bad service also includes overly chatty or interrupting waiters. I think it's fine for the staff to chat amongst themselves, comradship is fine, but I'd prefer them to go to an appropriate place, not in full site of customers. And this is only if they keep an eye out for their tables. Maybe I'm too extroverted or pushy, but I have few qualms telling loud or offensive people that they are disturbing me and probably 75% of the other customers. Shocking how well it works most of the time. This goes for phones, shouting, ill mannered children, you know, most things written here. Now, before anyone jumps down my throat, I do take the offenders into consideration like if they are TRYING to control their children, or if one of them is hard of hearing. But if it's clear that they're just being rude and selfish, it's fair game as far as I'm concerned. Plus, people thank me from surrounding tables. Now you can jump down my throat.
  12. Why, oh why have you gone? Me, never have, never will. Unless my aunt takes me. My most hated distraction? Bad service.
  13. Well, I had a couple last night. The first was very crisp and refreshing with a nice balance between the lime and orange. The second was heavy on the vodka. All in all, a nice drink. Beacon has a drink deal: 2 winter drinks (FOG is one of them) and a pizza for... $19.95? NOT a bad thing when you consider each drink is say, $9.00, and the pizza is $16.00. Don't know the size of the $16.00 pizza, but heck, it was fine for me and my friends. I know, I know it's not a classy pairing, but WTF, it was free.
  14. Tomatoes, walnuts and certain other foods have also hurt my tongue, but I don't think it's the same thing as an allergy. Seems to be lessened now.
  15. I loved chicken roll sandwiches but my mother would rarely buy it (chemicals, ickiness). I was such a picky eater, if there was something I WOULD eat, I usually got it.
  16. I was at class so set my VCR. It will be on two more times in NY.
  17. People here in NYC use Peeps a lot to decorate their Easter bonnets. They're pretty cool. Maybe I'll actually make on on time this year.
  18. pixelchef, Could you give me a source? I can't seem to find them anywhere in my area. I will be decorating a child's birthday cake soon and would like to use them as part of the decore. Thank you ever so much. Tajanna, google peeps and just born, it should give you the company's site, and you can find out where they're available in your area. They also probably have an 800 number. They're usually available in supermarkets and drug store chains here.
  19. Thanks Suzanne for the heads up. Will put it on my cabel reminder!
  20. Now, I can't believe this Jim. Do you keep a tracking sheet on your risotto? Doesn't the clockwise/counterclockwise turntable in the microwave disturb the direction of the risotto?
