Where can one find a high concentration of interesting chips in NYC, or close by? I'm dying to try some of these.

May I make a suggestion, please? Stating a location along with foods makes this thread make sense.

elyse replied to a topic in eGullet.org/The Daily Gullet Literary Smackdown
MODIFIED POST! I copied this one before I finished the last one, and I hope it's complete, PLUS the addition I made of the 3rd paragraph. Any chance I can make sure both are the same with the one addition? E Has the toast in your toaster oven ever caught fire? Has the water in your pot boiled down to nothing incinerating potatoes, tomatoes, rice, and asparagus? You'll have to throw that All-Clad away! Do these burned nuts look familiar? You'll never have that pie ready for the picnic. Have you lost days upon days sitting in front of the computer? Is your family STILL sitting at the dinner table??? Well NO MORE! Yes! You love eGullet and you love to eat! Now you can enjoy BOTH! With the new eGulletron eGulletransmitter! Tee-hee! Er... I can not answer that question for you. Beware the sequins. They'll tear up the roof of your mouth worse thana giant BLT.

At breakfast and lunch too. Cloth napkins are like pretty underwear: a luxury so simple it's silly to go without. I grew up with cloth napkins. We had to use them for a couple of days, so rather than luxuriant, they were kind of ewwwie.

I haven't been there in a few years, but I remember it was tasty.
-
Pasties are the nipple covering on exotic dancers. Sometimes with tassles swinging 'round. I guess you can still ask for ketchup with them.
-
I was there a couple of years ago, and they had no plastic signs/pictures. I saw the good OLD hand painted signs. Unless I was in a coma.... Or unless it's all changed. There are a couple of restaurants in Coney Island.

I think the Cyclone will still be closed. There's an ancient candy store under the el, if you're interested in that sort of thing. I can't give you any information, but any beat walking cop will be able to tell you about it. There's also an Italian place nearby. It's called Carolina's and the food's alright, but it's got an amazing keyboard player in the evenings. Just like those krazi movies about the 70's.

How serendipitous! Welcome.

There is also a Nathans on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City now. And, on the Nathans website, there is a coupon for 3 hot dogs for $1. each! Nathans Website Better, but still doesn't do it for me.
-
Plus, I wasn't under the impression that Holly was looking for a unique hotdog. More THE Nathan's experience which you certainly can not get at X, Y, or Z mall no matter where you go.
-
I disagree with all of the anti-Nathan's sentiment here. Go to Nathan's. It still has a place in my heart. And it's only a damn hotdog, not a porterhouse. I always order a dark one if that helps. Tastier in my opinion. If you agree that Nathan's has lost it, then you can cross it off of your things to do list. If you don't, you'll never know. And there's something to eating a Nathan's on the boardwalk, rain or shine.

Would it be a waste to infuse vodka? Rum?
-
Yes. I meant Jewish as in Artie's, not all delis. Not that a deli has to serve food Jewish people eat. Not that it has to be kosher. I was just thinking about Artie's and how New York needs another theme restaurant like it needs to deplete the mental institutions of their patients. Again. And that is... not at all.
-
Who exactly are you calling attractive now? And who was unattractive then?
-
I have no idea if this will be of interest to any of you, but right before route 6 and 6A split, on the bay side (left) is the Atlantic Spice Company. Sorry to say I have never been, but people keep telling me to go. It was a giant blue structure last time I saw it.
