    Aldi

Yeah, the Byrne UP cream is usually ~$5.00 at other stores. Unfortunately, the non-UP cream is only available at Byrne stores.

    Aldi

What are the prices in your area @MelissaH?

    Aldi

Byrne Dairy stores are sort of a convenience store, hence the high prices. Their cream is usually priced less elsewhere.

    Aldi

    We do the same.
  5. That app is still alive but it was never/hasn't been brought to Android—a serious misstep!!!
  6. FWIW: "Perfect" rapid sous vide egg.

    Aldi

    Yes.

    Aldi

"Switch to Aldi Exclusive Brands and save up to 50% on groceries." That's non-sense. Wegmans beats Aldi on several products I regularly buy. Too bad the quality of Aldi's products is generally low–I only buy a few products there. Check-out is extremely rapid because there is no bagging!!!

    About roux

FWIW: You can make your own 'instant roux' by browning flour in a skillet. Something I would use on occasion back in the days when I used roux.
  11. I plan to get my set-up back up and running soon.
  12. I can hear a mouse messing about in the wall right now!!!
  13. Do you still have this running, @Chris Hennes?
  14. I'm 6' tall—I can reach everything with the exception of what's on one corner cabinet shelf. A Rubbermaid step stool fits the bill.
  15. We have 2 cats. They don't have access to the crawl space, the enclosed porch and some other places in the house.
  16. Try this! Approximately 2/3 Tootsie roll and 1/3 peanut butter. Microwave for a few seconds then stir, repeat until the deadly—BWAHahahahaha!—mixture bubbles. Let cool enough so it can be kneaded into a ball around the snap trap trigger—dab a tiny amount of plain peanut butter on top of the ball. Works VERY well in my experience!
  17. I tried those. They did not work well for me here.
  18. I grew up on the stuff. ScrappIe was originally a food of necessity—whatever was available was used. Same with hog maw "Seimaage", etc. Scapple is like meatloaf in that there are a gazillion recipes out there. Homemade scrapple (Pon Haus) featuring pork butt.

  20. This place has very old drywall with a thin coating of plaster on it—for some strange reason they often applied the plaster coat when drywall was a new thing. I used toggle screws. No way will the knife strips budge!!!!
  21. I have the Ikea Grundtal stainless steel ones. No complaints. The installation instructions are available on the page.
  22. That stuff is magical!!!
  23. I ordered the whetstone from England. As I suspected, it's very coarse! No good for everyday use but useful for repairing a badly damaged blade.
  24. The great folks at The Marugg Company—where I bought my current scythe and accessories back in 2008—were kind enough to send me a new stone—70B natural whetstone—via affordable and reasonable first class shipping—$2.85!
