I know...lt's just me, but you couldn't pay me enough to eat candy corn! It tastes like candle wax.

There's a reason that Ritz crackers have been around for nearly 90 years. I particularly love the 'Everything' variety.

Actually, I have a large wedge of PR residing in the fridge for far too long that like to grate up before it becomes concrete. I'm pretty sure I own the fine disc that @JoNorvelleWalkermentioned upthread. The consistency I'm after would be like that which @blue_dolphin described as 'feathery'. I'll see if I can find that grating disc and do a test drive.

Yeah, I have several grating disks but I'm not sure if it's wise (given how hard the cheese is) or if it yields the right texture. Ina Garten grinds hers in the Cuisiinart and I generally take my cues from her.

Can anyone here tell me how best to grate (no grind) parmesan in the FP? Is is possible?
-
Definitely my kind of place. Wish I was there.

Ooni now makes an indoor model. See it here.
-
Anyone here own one? With Fall coming I'm tempted to buy one but there are a whole lot of options and prices. The Breville and the Ooni appear to be the top-of-line models and are pretty pricey. And then there are many other brands and designs.

Cooked on the Ninja Speedi (air fryer setting) yesterday Crazy good. HAWAIIAN HAM SHISH KABOB RECIPE SERVINGS 10 skewers AUTHOR Krissy Allori (recipe from SelfProclaimedFoodie.com) INGREDIENTS ▢2/3 cup unsweetened pineapple juice ▢1/2 cup ketchup ▢4 tablespoons soy sauce ▢2 garlic cloves minced ▢2 tablespoons brown sugar ▢1 whole ham steak ▢1 red onion ▢1 orange or yellow pepper ▢8 ounces mushrooms ▢1/2 fresh pineapple peeled with core removed INSTRUCTIONS To assemble the skewers, cut the ham, onion, pepper, mushrooms and fresh pineapple into 1” cubes and thread onto metal or wood skewer sticks, alternating ingredients. Hawaiian Ham Skewers, made with a pineapple grilling sauce, ham steak, and fresh vegetables, are not only insanely delicious but are super easy to make. To make the grilling sauce, combine the pineapple juice, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic cloves and brown sugar in small sauce pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 10 minutes. Allow to cool before use. Hawaiian Ham Skewers, made with a pineapple grilling sauce, ham steak, and fresh vegetables, are not only insanely delicious but are super easy to make. Cover skewers with grilling sauce. This can be done ahead of time and then stored in the refrigerator, if needed. Hawaiian Ham Skewers, made with a pineapple grilling sauce, ham steak, and fresh vegetables, are not only insanely delicious but are super easy to make. To cook skewers, heat grill to medium-high and sear each side for about 5 minutes until all ingredients have been heated through and have nice sear marks.

This is mine. Not a salt 'pig' but with its lid it saves me having to clean up the salt spilled wen I knock over the container. These comes in sets of various sizes, often the lids are sold separately. Useful for many things.

What? Learn about it here. i had to try it.

I have a rather large stockpile of dried beans in my pantry. I'll make it my job to sort through those in dispose of any that seem to have reached their end. Anymore it seems that canned beans are preferred and I plan to be a little more selective when buying. There really aren't a lot that I need to keep on hand anyway these days.

What did you buy at the liquor store today? (2016 - )

Oh geez...now I really have to try this. -
It is HO(T here today so I'm enjoying a dish of Creamsicle (I confess that I have never know how to spell this) orange sherbet.

I'll be quite interested in your take on the NY Steaks once you've had the opportunity to try them I've had my eye on those for a while.

I have the Fellowes and, indeed, it is cool looking. It is white and is stunning sitting next to my Fellowes burr grinder. (That grinder is the best!)

My wish when designing my current kitchen was to have a full size refrigerator next to a full size freezer...ala Subzero. Hideously expensive and prone to pricey repairs (if one could get proper service done in MT). So I still have the French door fridge in the kitchen along with two upright freezers and a fridge-only unit in the garage. Not ideal and I don't like schlepping in and out to get items from the garage.

If my Mom were still here, she'd be looking for pieces of liver.

Nah. I just have less patience.

I particularly dislike grating cheese by hand. I'll happily hand wash every part of my 7-cup Cuisinart to avoid doing it.

I posted a while ago somewhere here about my new laundry pair. After having used an LG washer and dryer some time ago at a vacation rental I was keen to purchase that brand to replace my 17 y/ Kenmore Elite set. Finally got them installed (it took a while since the delivery guys can't hook up gas appliances and my dryer is gas). Beautiful...Love all the new bells and whistles now. Steam in the wash and the dryer too! All kinds of options for water temp, length of time, speed, etc. I'm checking everywhere to find more items to wash! Never thought that would ever happen! Top load washer for me, I didn't care for the front loaders. Top loader with impeller for me Gas dryer with steam

Feeling the need for comfort food since summer foods are getting a little boring. Found a new (to me) recipe that I' prepare tonight. It's a bonus that it goes together quickly in this hot weather. (recipe from TheSlowRoastedItalian.com) Skillet Chicken Pot Pie ▢3 tablespoons unsalted butter ▢1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite size pieces ▢1/2 teaspoon black pepper ▢1/2 teaspoon kosher salt ▢1/4 cup all-purpose flour ▢3 cups chicken stock ▢2 cups frozen vegetables, (corn, peas and carrots) ▢3 ounces fresh Parmesan cheese, grated ▢1 teaspoon dried parsley ▢2 cups all-purpose flour ▢2 ounces fresh Parmesan cheese, grated ▢1 tablespoon baking powder ▢1 tablespoon granulated sugar ▢1/2 teaspoon kosher salt ▢1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted ▢1 cup whole milk INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 450°F. Melt butter in a (10-inch) oven safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until chicken is browned, about 2 minutes each side. Add flour and whisk to combine. Slowly add chicken stock while whisking skillet. Whisk until well combined. Add in vegetables and cheese. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium. Allow mixture to come to a boil, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile: In a large mixing bowl combine flour, cheese, baking powder, sugar and salt. Whisk to combine well. Add butter and milk. Stir to combine. Drop biscuits by the rounded tablespoon full on top of pot pie. Place skillet on cookie sheet and then slide into the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, serve and enjoy.

Prices today are shocking. Looking at melon prices here and I see nearly $9.00 each !!! Eek! I'm of the 'get off my lawn' ilk also and remember when they were 39 cents* each. Unfreakingbelivable. (Many of us can remember when the cent sign was still available on our keyboards.)
