Well now, no proofing, no baking and no quarter sheet pans. That just may not work for me after all. I'll just have to think on it a bit longer.

I generally bake the large 9x5" size loaves and even in the BSO there's just not quite enough height for the rise so I continue to bake in my range. The proof box I use, which works wonderfully well, is quite tall and roomy so I can get almost any size pan inside. If I have to continue proofing with what I have that's alright too, I just like the idea of the steam a lot.

Actually, I have a spot on the opposite side of the kitchen where I could place the CSO, no upper cabinets there. Not quite as convenient but workable. I checked yesterday and Costco has the oven for <$250 with free shipping. It's be worth the extra $10 to me to not have to fool with BB&B and their in-store coupon business. You see? I'm talking myself into this!!! Has anyone used their oven as a bread proofer? This really appeals to me as it could replace my Brod & Taylor bread proofer and free up that space.

My BSO currently sits diagonally across a corner under cabinets, thus there is more room behind than if it flat against the wall. Do you think that would be enough open space for the Cuisinart or not?
-
My biggest concern, well two concerns: Does it put out too much heat to be located under a cabinet? It won't fit my much-loved quarter sheet pans.

You guys are killing me!!!!! I simply do not need another kitchen appliance and I do not need another toaster oven even if it's better than my Breville smart Oven. But I am so w-e-a-k.....

I'd been seeing their TV ads for this and finally decided if I wanted to try it I'd better do so pretty soon since they said it was available for a limited time. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a really decent burger. I ordered mine with cheese, lettuce, mayo, onion and pickle as well as small fries and a small drink. It cost $8+ all together which seemed a bit steep for a drive in sandwich but I did enjoy it and I'd order it again if it's still available next time.

I think that little ruler is a great idea. I have several of those in my sewing room and I shall march over there and get one for my kitchen drawer!

I guess my first love would be my LeCreuset pots, I could never part with them they add so much to my joy of cooking. Next I love all my baking equlipment; from bread pans, sheet pans, muffin pans, cooling racks, to the small appliances I use. I especially love my Zojirushi bread maker, KA (Hobart made) mixer and bread proofer. I have a kitchen full of winners as well as a garage full of losers.

I have a lot of Cambro square containers that I use for different types of flour. I like the heavy duty ones since they go in and out of the freezer. I have some of their round food storage containers that I use for doughs and brining, etc. I even like the small 1-quart size for leftovers. I keep my wheat flours and most flours that see only occasional use in the freezer.

Not much faster and another item to store. I vote no.

Oh no! I haven't tried Peanut Butter Oreos! I think a hidden force will cause me to grab a package next time I'm in the store.

No Southerners here? I'm told that the most popular brand in the South is Blue Plate. I tried some and I can't tell it from Best Foods (my favorite).

I've always been a big fan of the CI meatloaf, with or without the glaze (now I'll make it without the veal!) This meafloaf recipe by Bobby Flay is my other favorite: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/vegetable-meatloaf-with-balsamic-glaze-recipe.html If you haven't tried it you're missing out.

Coincidentally, Kenji Alt just posted his Food Lab Meatloaf recipe here: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2015/08/the-food-lab-all-american-meatloaf-excerpt-recipe.html Notice that he mentions not using veal as it adds no flavor. Heresy, you say?

Omigod, it's five o'clock and you guys are killing me with those amazing drink photos! Since I don't have any strawberries on hand and I can't get exotic ingredients anywhere near where I live, I'll be having a plain ol' gin and tonic.

I cook for one as well so I always have a lot of extra food leftover, I love sharing with my two dogs.

"Normally I avoid selecting extra large vegetables but with my spiralizer it's a must." I see that as a rather negative feature, who wouldn't prefer small, tender more flavorful vegetables? But that's just me, don't let me rain on your parade.

rotuts, I have had both electric and non-electric pressure cookers. In my mind there's just no comparison. The quality of the stove top models is fantastic. I have models made by Kuhn Rikon as well as Fissler and the Fissler is much superior. The electric models I owned have long ago been donated. This is the one I use the most: http://www.amazon.com/Fissler-FSSFIS5850-Vitaquick-Pressure-Stainless/dp/B007X5BD0G/ref=sr_1_sc_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1439386625&sr=8-8-spell&keywords=fissler+presure+cooker And I also have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Fissler-Vitaquick-Pressure-Cooker-6-3qt/dp/B00873AO8A/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439386800&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=fissler+6+qt.+presure+cooker I love using these and right now there're really handy for vegetables. Also nice to not heat up the kitchen.

Just another short-term fad. Stop thinking about it for a few days and the desire will go away. Or, buy one and after a few weeks it'll end up with it in a box in the garage. Ask me how many boxes are in my garage.

Cooks Illustrated recently did a taste test of swiss cheeses and Edelweiss Emmentaler came out on top, however, they did not test Jarlsberg. I cannot imagine why not.

I love beets and have some diced up in the fridge almost all the time. I can get them in five pound bags from the local Hutterites but that's a lot all at one time. While I don't really have an interest in getting into canning, I'm wondering if I can prepare some in the pressure cooker then slice and pile them into canning jars with pickling spices and just keep them in the refrigerator. Sound like a good idea? Would I prepare them just as if I were going to can but then just refrigerate instead?

You certainly are an adventuresome cook, and your photos are simply amazing. They make me want to move in next door.

I see that Portland (OR) is going to get one of the first five Whole Foods 365 stores next year.
