  1. When you make toast with your CSO do you use the steam function?
  2. No, really! I saw this at my local liquor store and had to give it a try. I used some in my Clam Digger at cocktail hour. It's good, but a bit strong flavored. For me it works better when it's diluted with regular vodka, about 1/3 bacon flavored. http://www.bakonvodka.com/recipes
  3. My go-to cocktail has been a gin & tonic for a very long time. However, I was wanting something different for a change and it occurred to me that what I was looking for was a Clam Digger. Very good!
  4. Fry's? Geez, I thought they'd gone out of business long ago? Maybe just some of the stores? Also, I see that Amazon's price has gone back up to $290.
  5. Adventures are always so much more adventurous with a co-conspirator!
  6. blue dolphin, the pan in your picture....did that come with your oven? It looks fairly large, can you tell me the dimensions?
  7. I purchased a toaster oven size silicone liner to put in the drip tray of my Breville convection oven. I learned the hard way how difficult these trays are to clean. If I were to buy a CSO I would order one for it as well. So easy to clean!!!
  8. I'm seriously torn here, I want a CSO but I'm also wanting the new Apple iPad Pro model when it's released in November.
  9. Keeping in mind how dynamic Amazon's pricing can be, I see that right now the CSO is available for just $224,25!
  10. I haven't seen fresh compressed yeast anywhere in many, many (more than 30 years)! Where on earth do you find it?
  11. Recently when I needed a cup or so of chopped pecans I started thinking about shopping for a nut chopper. I ordered the top-rated model http://www.amazon.com/PL8-Nut-Chopper-1405/dp/B00JLIKD1I/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1444826162&sr=1-3&keywords=nut+chopper from Amazon. What a disappointment! It didn't even come close to evenly chop, it reduced most to a powder. Next time was in that situation I remembered the Slap Chop that I bought a few years ago. It did the best job of anything and much easier than using a knife.
  12. I am also in the market for a new trash can. I currently have the battery-operated type; mine is the Itouchless model: http://www.amazon.com/iTouchless-Deodorizer-Touch-Free-13-Gallon-Stainless-Steel/dp/B000EJVYTS/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1444657838&sr=1-2&keywords=battery+operated+trash+can Within a week or two of owning this can I had to remove the batteries as it opened every time anyone walked by, even my small dogs. And the odor of garbage constantly wafting into the room was too much. So I continue to use it by manually lifting the lid. But I would really like something that I don't have to touch with my hands. The unit I've been eyeing is a Simplehuman; I need a can that can fit under a counter so that's a bit tricky.
  13. The last time I saw him it was on a cooking show many years ago, even then he was hugely overweight and looked unwell. I'm surprised that he was just 75 when he died, I would have guessed much older by the way he appeared.
  14. One of my favorite local places makes their own ranch dressing which is out of this world! They serve it with their French fries which are also the best around, always fresh and dusted with seasoning - crisp. Love to stop there for a cheeseburger and fries.
  15. I'm amazed at just how often I cut and/or stab myself in the kitchen while doing truly mundane knife work.
  16. What about using one of those remote thermometers than you put into the bird and has a temp alert? Could you thread the cord successfully out through the oven door?
  17. "Tom and Jerry? Lone Ranger and Tonto? Abbot and Costello? Nope, even better, Kerry and Anna.." Heckle and Jeckle?
  18. I have tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. Re-did two bathrooms a couple years ago and added in-floor heating (mind you, it's not cheap to do). Heated floors in the bathroom is a must now, makes a huge difference in the room temp in the middle of winter! Since I would never consider going barefoot, I doubt that I'd put the heating into my kitchen floors. I have tile there now and I don't really like it but the thought of having all of it ripped out makes me swoon. Thank goodness, I've never broken a tile although there are a few with tiny chips; almost impossible to see.
  19. Actually, no. I have little use for composted materials. I do not garden and have few plants, not worth the mess, for me.. Where I live, we don't even have recycling...the population is so sparse that it is just too costly.
  20. Plugged up the disposer yet again, this time with apple peelings! Clearly I am a slow learner or the disposer is out to get me. Otoh, I'm quickly becoming a master at dismantling the plumbing!
  21. One of my favorite pressure cooker dishes is Hoppin' John. In fact, while rooting around in my freezer yesterday looking for Italian sausages I found a couple packages of Andouille, I think I'm in business! The weather is cooling nicely again for the weekend, I think I'll put that on my menu.
  22. Is there any news about the new model CSO? Or is that whole thing dead now?
  23. rotuts! I think you are the worst enabler I've ever come across!!! Okanagancook, I simply cannot wait to hear about what your making in that new steam oven!
  24. I always buy my short ribs at Costco (if they have them), they are far better than those available at my other grocers (and I live in beef country).
  25. Oh my, yes, I would love great toast, which I don't get with my BSO and I LOVE the idea of reheating with steam.Maybe I do need one after all. Weino, that round loaf is insanely beautiful!!! I want to make it!
