  1. @curls excellent i grew up with a fairly flat charcoal grill pre weber but my parents added a 1/2 diameter hood w a rotisserie attachment. I remember that sat and sunday 2 chickens, the sound of the motor ... I added one to my 3 burner weber ( gas ) specifically for the rotisserie and those memoirs. I take it , w your Kamado there is an ' insert' for the rotisserie that allows you to close the Kamado I know you are going to enjoy it. pls post if you can your future results. and possibly you can add a second set of ' folks ' for two chickens next time no joke same amount of work extra chicken for seconds or something interesting tomorrow.

@mgaretz that potato and green beans look excellent !
  6. my completely unsupported view is only so much ' information ' can travel the neural pathway from your taste buds to your Central Whiskie Appreciation Spot(s) if the alcohol is screaming , it mutes out other flavors. this works for me.
  7. @C. sapidus '''' adding water may take these aromatics out of solution ''' that's interesting. I personally doubt it when something comes out of solution iy precipitates. i add 50 % cold water. my whiskie remains clear. for me , water cuts the alcohol burn and thus enhances subtle flavors
  8. @Anna N sorry you had to jump through so may hoops. 3 weeks ? wow what was your favorite item to ' do ' in the CAF ? now you get to think about that for three weeks . this is not a consolation in any way.

    Cleavers

@Jaymes don't feel you have to spend the entire budget on a cleaver. of you go w the DR add a boning knife . it will be a surprise and your son will love it. a curved blade on a boning k knife is the way to go consider https://www.dexterrussellcutlery.com/dexter-russell-sani-safe-6-curved-boning-knife-1613-s116-6mo/ good luck !

    Breakfast 2023

this looks lonely. single ( last ) slice LS SPAM , crispy on each side bread from TJ's , which they get every morning at 5 AM ( but not Monday ) very good crumb , and it keeps you, of course, slice it yourself and that's it. it was delicious the hot fat got soaked up by the bread . next time Ill use a slice of the bread to soak up any fat from the Fond-Less too ! in NE its important to be careful w fat down the sink saves me using hot water and detergent first before washing the FLess not sure this is the Fork in the Road best taken but it was delicious
  17. I thought pi day was in 2015 .
  18. @Duvel on their bellies after Brexit they are hoping a 3 day week might work.
  19. ATK reviews , for me , are problematic . just their reviews , not necessarily the item in question . they recommended a conventional pressure cooker ( a great one : I have it , used it possibly twice . worked very well ) missing the iPot cleanly . missed the implications of SV for some time so their enthusiasm for Anova // steam cooking @ home come very late in the game . but its accurate Id say , just Old . bandwagoning ?
  20. so sales tax is 16 % ? is this for cooked food ?
  21. @Anna N GST / HST = ?
  22. the $ 60 was just the delivery charge as I understand it .

@haresfur Carbonara is a favorite dish of mine That slice of porky goodness looks terrific. you've done it proud in your carbonara. you don't need to add yolks but if you do , you will notice them for sure !
  24. meal kits were mentioned in the WSJ Heard on the Street : https://www.wsj.com/articles/home-food-deliverys-questionable-value-for-consumers-and-investors-41b587fb?mod=hp_minor_pos20 for review purposes : """ Serving food with a side of technology was the perfect pandemic business model. Now old doubts are back with a vengeance: Just how many people will pay what it costs to have grub delivered to their door? """ '''''' HelloFresh HFG -4.04%decrease; red down pointing triangle shares fell 9% Tuesday after the meal-kit company said it was targeting revenue growth of anywhere between 2% and 10% this year, stripping out currency movements—a wide bracket but below most analysts’ forecasts at the midpoint. Its profit guidance also came in below expectations. '''' '''' Based in Berlin, HelloFresh dominates the market for cook-at-home ingredient packages. In the U.S. it accounted for 78% of meal-kit sales last year, helped by various acquisitions, according to an analysis of consumer-purchase data by Bloomberg Second Measure. Home Chef, owned by supermarket chain Kroger, came next with 12%, followed by Blue Apron at 6%. Blue Apron’s stock has performed so badly that the New York Stock Exchange in December threatened to delist it. '''' ''''' HelloFresh is clearly big in the meal-kit business. The question for investors is whether meal kits are potentially big in the food business outside a pandemic. They tend to be less expensive than eating out, but much more expensive than cooking from scratch: HelloFresh currently charges $60.95 to deliver a box of two meals for two people each. Bears argue they are little more than a niche solution for urban couples with busy jobs in boom times. ''' ''' All three companies wrestle with various forms of the same conundrum: Food is a huge market, but it isn’t well suited to e-commerce. Unprepared, it is bulky, heavy and of relatively low value, with complex refrigeration requirements. Prepared, it is of higher value but requires rapid delivery. Consumers are happy to take deliveries when the cost is subsidized by investors, but when it isn’t the market shrinks fast. '' interesting niche. I did n to realize delivery costs are so high $ 60 for 4 meal-equivalents is pretty steep.
