A Drunken Southern Chick With Two Slimes No, not talking about the recent flood of nasty juicy scandals in politics and in the entertainment world. Decided to tryout Paula Deen’s southern drunken chicken recipe. Of course slimy okra goes well with southern cooking. Okra is the very last from my garden. I also added another slimy veggie green from my garden, Malabar spinach. dcarch

Finished, the past few days as many of you who are in the area know, we had very high winds. Well The greenhouse passed the high wind test. It also passed the insulation test. It's rather warm inside . dcarch

The biggest problem with copper pipes is if the plumber does not electrically isolate the copper pipes from iron pipes (plumbing Code), causing destructive galvanic corrosion. For the plumber who does isolate the pipes, they sometimes forget to re-ground the electric power wiring to preserve electric ground for your appliances. dcarch

I went to a wedding in brooklyn a couple of years ago. The restaurant has a big attached outdoor garden which can hold maybe 150 to 200 people. It was a very nice wedding. I don't think it was expensive. In your case, March would be too cold for an outdoor wedding. dcarch

Call me crazy. Always doing crazy things. I don't normally need a stepping stool in the kitchen. I use my cellphone with a selfy stick ($20) to look into high shelves. And I use a grabber ($10) to retrieve items on high selves. dcarch

Magnetic Knife Strip, Be It Wooden, Stainless, Whatever
dcarch replied to a topic in Kitchen Consumer
Rare earth magnets are so strong, you can hang the knives by their tips. Nothing touches the body of the blades, and no wood strips to get germy and dirty. Germy and dirty? Yes, I have a few knives that I don't clean after every use. They are for dirty cutting. dcarch -

90° bends are always a problem for regular fans to overcome back pressure. A centrifugal blower can work much better. But they don't make residential kitchen exhaust fans using centrifugal blowers. BTW, exhaust fans using more than one fan is not any better. Because the fans work against each other, not with each other. dcarch

But a check valve cuts off water at any pressure. dcarch

The exhaust air goes outside. Inline fan, using turbine blades design, can overcome duct resistance. You will notice recently, many leaf blowers are using turbine inline fan to move air. An inline fan can be anywhere in the duct system, giving you some flexibility in locating the fan. dcarch

There are many methods to pressure zone a highrise plumbing system. A check valve cannot regulate water pressure. It cuts off water 100%. A pressure regulating valve is what typically used. dcarch

Have you, your architect/contractor looked into inline exhaust fans? I have a superstition against recirculating kitchen exhaust fans. dcarch

Water pipes have to take a lot of static pressure and dynamic pressure. The bottom floor at the World trade Center will need to withstand almost 800 PSI of pressure. dcarch

Yes - everything is being done to code; plumbing has passed inspection. This might interest you: Code or not Code. It may be a good idea to insulate both the hot water and cold water copper pipes. Hot water pipes insulated will give you hot water quicked. Cold water pipes insulated prevents sweating on a humid day. dcarch

I think you can eat the green part of the leaves as well, I only cooked the stems, in the PC for about 30 minutes, but my PC has been modified to go high pressure (not recommended for others). Just try it out for 30 minutes, if not good re PC for another 30 minutes. dcarch

I am very surprised that artichoke leaves are not eaten by people. People eat cardoon (cardone) don't they? Cardoon and artichoke are in closely related family. They always say that cardoon tastes like artichoke. Therefore, just use any cardoon recipes. I made it in my pressure cooker. quick and easy. Pick the younger leaves. They are very tender with no fiber. dcarch
