Here is my movable (store-able) system: PVC pipes greenhouse film. You can get greenhouse film very cheap from Farmtec remnants. All parts are modular, removable. PVC pipes are 4' and 2' long. The finished cold frames are 4'w x 8'L x 2'h. Takes about 10 minutes each to assemble and 5 minutes to disassemble. The greenhouse film is what holds the cold frame together. The Greenhouse film is UV resistant to 4 years, but for cold frame use, it will last at least three times longer. Storage after disassemble takes very little space. I use bungee cord to anchor the cold frames. We have had very high wind storms, no problems yet. dcarch

There are three kinds of flat roofers. The one who gives you flat roof that leak today, and the other gives you flat roof that leak tomorrow. However if done by a qualified roofer who knows how to build, flat roofs should not leak. But back to kitchen /home renovations. Plan carefully. Tell your architect to check: a) If all pipe hangers and retainers are correctly done, otherwise you will get strange noises inside the walls when pipes expand and contract, in the middle of the night. b) Tell your architect to check if there are pipe runs which may require water hammer arrester. The biggest problem with copper pipes is if the plumber does not electrically isolate the copper pipes from iron pipes (plumbing Code), causing destructive galvanic corrosion. For the plumber who does isolate the pipes, they sometimes forget to re-ground the electric power wiring to preserve electric ground for your appliances. dcarch Something strange with this post ? I don't understand why Panasonic says they invented the inverter technology. Inverter has been around for a very long time. Besides, an inverter is a device that converts DC power to AC power. The Panasonic microwave oven is powered by AC current. Regular MW works similar to PWM (Paused Width Modulation) power control devices or somewhat similar to FM (frequency modulation) radio signals. . Inverter MW works similar to AM (amplitude modulation) radio signals. dcarch

LED lights may seem brighter, but not really. The source of LED light is smaller for the same lumen output, therefore it looks much brighter. LED is a diode, requiring a minimum voltage to start firing, therefore they are never as dimmable as incandescent. Bring a small fan to check LED lights. Many of them flicker. That is interesting. Because there is no such thing as white LEDs. All so called white LEDs are colored LEDs exciting white phosphorous coating to generate white light. dcarch

Never mind if your food looks good or not under light. I believe that psychologically and physiologically, we are all effected by light. Especially for people who are suffering with S.A.D. condition, the lack of quality of environmental lighting can be debilitating. dcarch

Incandescent light color temperature can vary, depending on voltage (dimmer). LEDs color temperature remain the same when dimmed. supermarket meat showcase lighting is modified to make meat look redder, and likewise, for produce to look greener. dcarch .
