  1. We have our reservations for Lupa at the end of the month and cannot wait! FYI, we also are eating at Jean-George, Nice-Matin and the Carnegie, as well as a pizza and a cheesburger, the later two restaurants to be determined. After that, I will have to rolled back home

  4. Linser Sable Cookies..adapted from a recipe by Dorie Greenspan's in her cookbook " Baking, From My Home to Yours" 3/4 Black Raspberry Jam & 1/4 Strawberry Jam (Both jams bought from Barb Schaller-to die for) This dessert, at present, is my most favorite which I make.

  6. DELICIOUS.....now it won't matter that I cannot find crumb cake in NYC
  7. New York Style Crumb Cake......lots of crummy, yummy crumbs. First attempt.....have not tasted it yet.
  8. ... and both fast-burning and slow-burning energy. Good choice We had pizza-dough bread - a standard but wet white dough well kneaded, shaped and left to rise in pans till very well developed (for pizza, it's the same dough and kneading, but splitting into one-pizza pieces before rising, and shaping after). Yesterday it was about 20-21C (68-70F) inside the apartment and I let them rise five-and-a-half hours. Kneaded and shaped dough (sorry about the camera shake) After rising (under oiled plastic) There's a big bubble in one loaf that needs burst - cut and served simply this morning with butter and acompanied by coffee. This bread is just great - crusty, light, moist and open-crumbed and with that delicious long-rise flavour. Did you have to anything special to get the bread so 'holy' ? Wow, I cannot my breads to be the airy. Yours looks great. I've just gotten SAE instant yeast as opposed to ADY, I hope that will make a diff, although I let the ADY poof by itself for 15 minutes before incorporating the the ingredients.
  9. Is it only for K.A. or will it work on a Cuisinart too ? You simply buy the one made FOR the Cuisinart. thanks......on Amazon ?

  14. Wow, with a reco like 'worthy of last meal', I went to get the address and they are not open in NYC at the moment....... Hopefully they will and we will get to taste.
  15. Looking forward to your posts. DOUGAL: Yes, read you loud and clear. A virtue worth practicing.
  16. If it is sold by Amazon LLC 100% yes. If it is a vendor, someone that Amazon handles the sale for but nots its own stock. a reseller of new or used merchandise it is up to that individuals preference. If its the same entity that sold me mine, then yes. Macaron If this is the page you are ordering from, its from Amazon itself and you are good to go.

    Dinner! 2009

My mouth watered when reading and seeing, it looks and sounds wonderful.
  20. Can you say anything about the techniques & prep yet? Examples: Simplified prep, less time for starter etc ?
  21. You must be referring to Jean Georges. Thanks Sneak I'm sure your correct....I just checked the website and the offerings look great
  22. I think in the Per Se discussion GwennP just dug up the quote by F.G. saying "Jean Georges where the dinner tasting menu is $125 -- half the price for seven eighths of the experience -- and lunch can be had for like forty buck" Can someone confirm ? I think somewhere else F.G. went into more detail saying it was the best deal in the City at that time.
  23. There is a fine dining restaurant around the 59th ST. area of Central Park, F.G. mentioned in a post awhile back, which has a excellent value for lunch, If I am recalling correctly (which is a gamble:) I am searching the forums for the name. Can anyone please post if you recall? Perhaps you may consider a great lunch too? FYI, if you have a little one and/or want to get into the Holiday spirit, if its on when you are there, a trip to Radio City to see the Christmas Spectacular, is very uplifting. Right across the street is THE most famous XMAS tree (or is a Chanukah bush?) in the world. Ahhhh, all this and the YANKEES is why NYC is the greatest city in the world. We are going to two shows this time also: Billy Elliot and South Pacific. All this planning of our trip, as well as seeing your plans, is making me mighty homesick.
  24. I think they were only mice. I think it makes not much difference, does it ?
  25. I hope NYC brings you a lot of happy and tasty memories. And may I take this exact moment in time to say GO YANKEES ! We try to go at lest twice a year and are going at the end of next month. The Carnegie Deli, 7th AV and 55th ST IMHO has the best cheesecake of any place on the planet that I have eaten cheesecake at. What I even like better is their Cherry Cheese Strudel...Every time we go back, we always share a Corned Beef on rye, potato knish, cole slaw and for dessert a piece of plain cheesecake (They have several topping ones also) and a cherry cheese strudel, at the Carnegie. Dress warm!
