My husband is about as non egulleter as you get . I'm bringing him (he wouldn't let me come to a party with a bunch of people I' ve never met without him . Any accountants in the crowd for him to talk to ? Alternatively, he talks to lawyers a lot, so he should be ok!

Don't forget that when you are losing weight, your body will occassionally "plateau, as it re-adjusts to the new thought of getting and needing less food.

I read this so quickly at first I though it said "Please don't feed them humans"

I agree. Call. People get busy. They "mean" to call you back, but there are just other priorities sometimes, and it gets pushed to the back. As Suzanne says, be specific. And I wouldn't call more than twice. Once - if you don't get him, leave a specific message, and then wait for a few more days.

I'm sorry, how could any one do this to a perfectly good prime rib

I confess. I do not make stock. I buy it, usually from WS, but sometimes from Bruno's here. They make it and package it, I freeze it. (I'm ducking now )

Holly - you've been de-testicled

The only tea I've ever had with alcohol, is a blueberry tea. Tea and Grand marnier. Does it need anything else?

It arrived today! What a beaut. Ceasar salad dressing coming up
-
You did better than I would. I never have homemade sauce in my freezer. My freezer is way to full of beef Funny though, the one thing I always make from scratch is Ceasar Salad dressing for which I will actually chop garlic for, and make the bacon bits and croutons. Tonight is tutoring for my son, so it's take out pizza. I can't cook on these nights because they work in the kitchen and I mustn't disturb them (that's my story and I'm sticking to it )

I'm just waiting for my husband (his name is Don) to confirm whether we'll be flying out Sunday or Monday. The only flight out on Sunday for us is at 7:00 am. Somehow, I don't think I'll feel like getting up at 5:00 am after a party

Perfect. Thanks to a kind moderator who pinned the hotel information in the Southeast Forum.

Maybe we can get the travel info pinned?

Kris: Please, please please let us know how this works out. My mind is boggling Big Time. My little "just for dinner" breadmaker makes bread in 45 minutes. Microwave? That could be interesting! I picked up another two cookbooks today.

We communicate all the time. We have sit down family meetings where we all discuss issues and things that affect all of us. My son's favourite time to talk is at bedtime. That's usually when I'll hear about things that are bothering him, although I can usually tell long before that .

Welcome Vikram! After reading Monica's article, I went to check my fridge and pantry to see what I've really got in the way of these "convenience" items. I have peeled garlic cloves, garlic puree and minced garlic in jars. I have pudding mixes, and cake mixes. I have *gasp* jello. I have Kraft Dinner (ugh, but my son loves the stuff). I have roast garlic puree. All of my spices are store bought, lined up in alphabetical order in their tupperware containers. I "turn them over" every three months if I haven't used them. I even have stuffing mixes. Pork chops and stovetop stuffing with gravy. Mmmmm. I have frozen cookie dough from Costco. I have frozen puff pastry and I have frozen pie shells. I have never ever mastered the art of pastry. Oh the shame! But I also have more time to spend with my growing son before he becomes a teenager and wants nothing more to do with his mother in public

They are, lou...we love them! But our neighbors are scared to death (ooh -- they are probably killer bees!!!) and keep threatening to call local authorities. Just let them try I'm going to move my question to a new thread so that it might get the attention it undoubtedly deserves. Ha! I would never come out of my house! I'm allergic There are some great recipes here, but I can't put them in the archive because they look like they all come directly from a cookbook. Can someone tell me whether any of them have been altered enough to meet our copywright requirements

You can get the Bamix in Canada from Golda's Kitchen. They are a lot more expensive than the Brauns and Cuininarts, but the Bamix really is in a different league. I had the Braun for years and there is no comparison. The big differences are the Bamix has way more power, you can change the working blade quickly and easily for different uses (yes, you can create foams), and the way the working end is designed (metal, not plastic) allows for more flow-through of whatever you're blending, so it works a lot like a conventional cup blender. I use mine all the time. You might also be interested in a previous discussions here and here. I ordered it today. It should be here tomorrow. Gotta love Golda's

I'm not even gonna tell you what my son takes for lunch . After this thread, I'd be crucified! He doesn't always take the healthiest stuff for lunch, but he always takes fruit (ok to salve my guilty concience, I make him take fruit ). But he is an adventurous eater at home now that's he's getting a bit older, and I was informed the other day to start putting extra garlic in stuff. (up until now, he hated garlic). All I can say is I'll be glad when our school year is over next week.

It's there -- just click the recipe title. Thanks, I missed it first time around. Apologies

Somehow, the link I provided to the recipe didn't make it to the article, so here it is. Monica's Trifle. I am so guilty of all the things you write about! egullet shames me into doing more fresh, but I like the convenience short cuts too

Dry roasted peanuts mixed with dry roasted sunflower seeds. Water. Soon to be switched for a Canadian Club and coke

Katherine: here is a link to your thread on this Habanero granita and here is a link recipe in the archive It's classified as Ice cream because we do not have a sorbet category

My son eats in front of the tv 3 nights a week. He chooses the night. I don't watch TV, ever. During the week, my husband is almost never home in time for dinner with the rest of us, so when he's not travelling, I'll usually keep something warm for him and sit with him while he eats. Usually my son has a friend over on the weekends and we all eat together. No books at the table, no answering the phone, and no tv when we are eating together.

I don't think I can get the Bamix here. so yes I'm trying to decide between the Cuisnart and the Braun. Send me yours, I'll try it out for you
