  1. I have no problem what so ever chipping in for this. In no way should Varmint be expected to pick up the cost for this shindig.
  2. Butter tarts, made properly, are best the next day. This potato salad is best the next day. Leftover beef stroganoff. My husband swears by spagetti sauce the next day. Red Wine casserole takes two days to make.

    Michelob Ultra

Um, most American beer tastes like beer flavoured water. Canadian beer, on the other hand does not
  4. Yee-haw! (more or less )

    Alternate Pastas

I regularly use spelt pasta, and I quite like it. Like Spelt flour, the pasta has a "nuttier" taste and really works well with a butter/garlic sauce.
  6. pixel, our tastes run about the same (except for the mustard. I like all kinds of mustard ). I don't get caviar and I don't much like oysters either. Can't stand raw fish. And I can't eat truffles even if I wanted to
  7. No, no! I am not exactly ready for the pro tour either! I only took up golf a couple of years ago, and I've only had a few lessons. I'm not very good, but I love to play. Fortunately, my husband is a patient man, so it's always a pleasure to golf with him. However, for those who are fanatical about the game, I'm not the right person to golf with Some come along Weka, we'll golf together. Who cares as long as we have fun!
  8. Sounds like a great plan. Perhaps I could join you for a round of golf, if I get all the other items taken care of! How about an eGullet golf outing? I'm trying to think of a place where you could get good chow. Of course, we could forget about the food and go down to Pinehurst, which is but an hour away. I could get us a good deal at Pine Needles, home of the Women's US Open next year. That sounds great! We'd love to play golf with other egulleters
  9. We are now officially, offically in. I asked hubby on the weekend if he wanted to go, and he said, sure why not? . The plan right now is to fly in Thursday, perhaps golf on Friday and pig pick on Saturday. Yahoo!
  10. Here's the first of this thread's recipe's. Hummus. I'm just on my way out to catch my flight to Montreal, but I'll get the rest of them when I get back on Sunday! (If anyone else does so, please let me know, so I don't duplicate ) Thanks!
  11. That's not the point. I've just started looking at hotels. I'll likely book the flight over the weekend.
  12. No fair, I'm coming from another country
  13. well then? If I can come from Canada , surely you can come from NY? Please?
  14. I'll wear my cowboy boots and overalls. Oh wait, that's for Houston. Never mind, I'll bring my hoop skirt and parasol - I'll be leaving my Czar's tiara at home
  15. Same time zone. And they even have electricity down there to power the clocks. All right all right. I told you I dont' know this stuff. I'm bringing butter tart squares if they let me bring them over the border Or I could just make them in your kitchen Varmint Mi kitchen, su kitchen, Senora Marlene! Although mi kitchen does sucketh a bit. By the way, do they have moose or polar bear pickin's up there in the great white north??? muchos gracias Senor . They don't take very long to make. I'll pm you for a list of things I'll need Or point me to the nearest grocery store Well I think polar bears on the protected list, so not them, and moose isn't really a pickin kind of animal, although when the huntin boys get together during the season, anything can happen. We do however have some mighty fine pig pickin's up here - when it thaws enough for everyone to come out of their igloos of course

  18. Hey I was just checking flights, and it's only an hour and a half flight from Toronto. Are we in the same time zone? I know nothing about this stuff!

  23. You go Varmint. What's a pastie I thought those were the little things strippers wore. If you're eating those, you won't gain much weight, but you might get a headache from Mrs. Varmint
  24. These recipes have been added to the archive Caramel Sauce by Really Nice! Cashew Caramel by Michael
