  1. Thank you. I've made the changes to my copy. Looking forward to trying this.
  2. I believe the yellow split pea is French Canadian in origin. I can't speak to the origin of green pea soup except to say my parents were immigrants from Holland and we ate green pea soup growing up. It is very popular there.
  3. I saved the recipe as I want to make it when the local cherry tomatoes are ready. I just re-read the recipe and nowhere does it say what to do with the sliced basil. It does tell you what to do with the 18 basil leaves.
  4. There are two versions of pea soup. One version is made with yellow split peas, the second with green split peas.
  5. I tried one of those and sorry, but I found it didn't work very well for me.
  6. Of course!
  7. The Breville Sous Chef is $342
  8. Nothing of any interest to me on amazon.ca.
  9. @TicTac I sent you a PM
  10. http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?cat=2,40733,75415&p=75859 I too am looking for a better strainer set-up than a sieve. I like the look of these and will be checking them out.. I have been using dim sum papers, the ones used to line bamboo steamers, in a sieve to strain my yogurt but the handles on the sieve are awkward to place in the fridge. So, this plus the papers look as though they would work well. Those papers, by the way, work better than anything else I've tried and that includes coffee filters and cheesecloth. Yogurt releases very easily and nothing sticks to them. If you can't find them, I'd be happy to send you some.
  11. I reminded SIL #2 that she had been thinking about buying one and that today was the day to do it. I just heard from her that she bought one too.
  12. Last week my SIL was making feeble noises about the IP. Her daughter has been suggesting that she get one which I enthusiastically endorsed. I sent her a note this morning about Amazon Prime Day, pointing out of course, that she can join Prime for free for 30 days. She is now the proud owner of the 8 qt. IP!
  13. Does anyone know off he deals change during the day? I looked at what they had for the kitchen and nothing caught my eye. Should I check back to see if their offerings gave changed?
  14. @Anna N Looks delicious!
  15. I remember Goober Grape! As far as PB & J sandwiches go, growing up we could have one or the other but never both. That was considered extravagant. To this day I can't wrap my head around a PB&J sandwich. But, I love eating peanut butter on toasted grainy bread or whole wheat as a minimum (never white) and I love jam on croissants. But, never the two together.
  16. I'll be watching the prices on the Breville Smart Scoop and the Cuisinart ICE100. The prices have to come down considerably to beat BBB prices for the Cuisinart and at a local place for the Breville.
  17. The roast was terrific. Couldn't believe how good it was.
  18. Went to the Bayview location on my way home Sunday. Bought, among other things, Berkshire pork chops and dry aged rib steaks. What a great place! Glad I don't live near there or I'd be broke. Well fed, but broke. I couldn't buy everything i wanted as I had limited room in my cooler as I had already made yogurt (sheep's milk) and cheese stops. One of the cheeses I bought was a 13 year old cheddar i bought at the St. Jacob's Farmer's Market. I don't recall ever having seen a cheddar aged that long. Did not see the butter - next time.
  19. What, no bakeapples?
  20. Looks like my kind of bread, kind of grainy. I'm in Burlington sipping on a "get a bird out of jail" glass of wine. Glad to read he was caught and is now back outside. Hopefully he is re-united with his mother.
  21. Poor wee thing.
  22. What is it? A bat?

    Fish Cake Herb

    How about thyme?
  24. Me too. We lost our upright freezer AND our fridge within a couple of months of each other 2 years ago. Not fun. So, @Okanagancook I'd call you smart.
