@gfweb Thank you. I just read the Wikipedia entry for this and I'll have him read it when he gets home. I'd never heard of this.

My husband will no longer eat apples even after I wash them. He says his throat tightens/swells up, sometimes badly which I attribute to the pesticides. He can, however, eat peeled and cooked ones, after washing. I'll keep the baking soda treatment in mind. Thanks for posting this.

It's what we do best!

What Chromedome said. Plus, import taxes are another reason a lot of places can't be bothered. I find ordering directly from the States very expensive relative to charges within Canada or what is charged for shipping within the U.S. Whenever I run into this, I always wonder if there is also a mark up on shipping costs. So far, i get around this by having stuff shipped to my niece in N.Y. and I fret about what I'll do when they move back to Canada in a few years. As an aside, for the first time ever when crossing into the US recently, the border person asked if we were picking up anything at a post office/courier box. I wonder if delivery to these are becoming more popular?

What parts are you looking for? I'd be happy to ask at the store that orders my Cuisinart replacement parts if they can get what you need, or at least find out if they can be ordered.

I don't think you were, but if you were, just know that I have been called much, much worse. if Jo doesnt mind, then I'm sure I dont.

I'm looking forward to your report. Might just be what I'm looking for. Although I didn't know I was looking for anything until I read your original post.

Oopsie, I saw the second link and missed the first. I'm interested in this too because I have the big Breville FP and mostly it stays in the cupboard because I don't like digging it out and cleaning it either. I have a rather old mini Kitchen Aid thingy that will process small jobs and also has a shredding blade that I use for cheese. I fear it is on its last legs as a piece of the plastic on the bowl where it locks onto the top has broken off and i dont know how much longer it will last. Interestingly, a fellow I know who owns a kitchen shop told me that KA parts are virtually impossible to get. He says the KA attitude is "let them buy a new one". OTOH, he says Cuisinart stocks pieces from way back and he never has a problem getting them.

Salad shooter?

Where do you find this? I haven't noticed that particular make.

@Anna N where did you see these?. My curiosity is getting the better of me.

@Shelby and @lindag thank you. @lindag there won't be any turkey served, just assorted appetizers. So, i'll give this a go. Trial run first, of course!
-
@lindag if I was closer, I'd come over for a toasted slice or two. Looks delicious.

Would this work as an appetizer? This building is having a holiday get-together and I need to bring an appetizer. Our building has a large number of Jewish people who will be attending. Does this dish meet their dietary requirements? I'd like to bring something everyone can eat.

@quiet1 we don't care for Turkey either so we always have capon. The breast doesn't seem to dry out the way Turkey does. They range in size between 6 to 8 pounds and are delicious. Unstuffed, they cook in about an hour. They have a small frame and so there is lots of meat on them. If that is to small for your group, Norm's suggestion of a ham would be good too.

@Pan Do you plan to ship to Canda? So many sites don't.

Would love to see the crumb.

Dinner tonight was smoked salmon over rosti with French green beans and salad. That blob of sour cream looks like a face, dontcha think? Too bad his left eyeball kinda popped out of it's socket.

Thank you. I have never had or heard of Alouette cheese, but we do have Boursin which I think must be similar and I just happen to gave some. Thank you for responding.

Can you elaborate on the mushroom stuffing?

Got all excited when I saw this as my husband loves hot horseradish which we are hard pressed to find here. Went to Amazon.ca and naturally, they don't carry it.

Shiitake and pea risotto with steamed green beans and roasted asparagus. Trying to lose a pound of two hence all the veg. That is not my plate, which is half the size shown.☺

My SIL bought one of these indoor mushroom grow logs and was disappointed in the yield.
