Yesterday I picked up a new-to-me product called Korean Hot And Sour Soup made by Happy Planet. As is typical for Costco, they come two containers to a carton, 832 ml each. This stuff is seriously good and has some heat. Better yet, the ingredient list has nothing on it that needs a chemists's translation. I had some yesterday for lunch and had some more today, but today I added a square of cooked ramen noodles. What a great little lunch! Highly recommended.

High praise, indeed!

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

That sounds interesting. How do you make the pot de creme? -
My sister and I met for lunch today at a Korean restaurant which had opened it's second location last week. Alas, when we got there, taste buds a-tingling, there was a closed sign on the door! I don't know if it was closed closed, or just a temporary thing but there would be no lunch for us there today. So, we went across the street to The Merivale Fish Market. She had the clam chowder, I had the lobster bisque. Both were very good.

Looks like the same ingredients except yours has lemongrass and mine has keffir lime leaves. Should be okay to use.

I was in 4 different stores and couldn't find it in cans. I did find a can of this which looks like it will do. @Shelby do the ingredient lists match up at all?
-
I'm back at the Asian store today. I am bringing my tablet as Liuzhou sent me a picture of an ingredient I should be looking for and I'll have yours then as well. I want to try to make laksa. Ever try that?

@Shelby That looks great. Did you just wing it or did you follow a recipe ?

Do you not have one electrical outlet in your kitchen that has a dedicated breaker?
-
I too tried to make mashed from frozen riced cauliflour and got the same result you did. Very watery.

Oooh, that looks good! What is the chop smothered with?
-
Thank you, I found it and bought it.

I am a recent convert to okra. The first time I had it, I thought, "Where have you been all my life"?
-
Sometimes the mainstream stores carry it, sometimes they don't. We live close to a store called Produce Depot and they always have okra so that is where I go. It is a store that sells the regular produce but also a lot of fruits and vegetables other groceries don't. Things like fresh tamarind, seaweed, baby pineapples.

Now I also have The Southern Food Truck Cookbook. I just flipped through it and wow! there are some interesting recipes in there. First on my list is Chicken and Dumplings (Sort Of). One small problem though is that it calls eel sauce which I had never heard of before now and can't, through Google, seem to find a substitution for. The other item is Guilin Chili Sauce but there is a Guilan Style Chili Sauce by LKK.. a trip to my Asian grocery store is called for. What a fun book this looks go be. Thanks, enabler @Toliver. Perfect name for him.

Tonight we had jerk chicken with pineapple salsa. I thought I had taken chicken breasts out of the freezer but when i went to marinate them I discovered they were thighs. Oops. We had them with this sort of stewed mixture of okra, onions, kumato grape tomatoes and corn over Jasmine rice.

We need for it to expand to Canada as parcel delivery by Canada Post is terrible. I ordered something from a third party via Amazon which arrived in Canada before Christmas and I got it in January, courtesy of Canada Post.

Yes you do! One thing I did do was reduce the braising liquid a bit before adding it go the coconut milk/fish sauce etc. mixture.

I managed to find the will power to not buy the SoNo book until today.
-
Oui, but it only really counts if you do it in both official languages.
-
Tonight we had the Coconut-lemongrass chicken bowls. So good I would have liked to have a second bowl. Just kidding. About the second bowl. Sort of.
-
Re: the SoNo book.....i just read the reviews and some people were complaining that the measurement quantities for the recipes had been cut off on the Kindle version. Anyone else have a problem with this? I'd like to get the book but not if I can't actually bake from it.
