Welcome back! I too had been wondering where you were. The food sounds ghastly. Powdered eggs? I wonder why they use those. When my dad was in a nursing home I was there at meal times a few times (I lived 350 miles away) and the food was real food, served at the appropriate temperatures. It was government run so I don't know if that made a difference.

I tried a couple of different browsers and Bangkok was priced at over $30 for the Kindle version at all of them. I did check the other book again, and it directs me to Amazon.ca where I can buy that one for $2.99. The Bangkok one is not offered on .ca.

Hmm. I don't see the cheap price for Bangkok book but I do see it for the other one, which is why I asked. Bit of a bummer as I would have liked the Bangkok one.

Is that pricing for Prime members?

Getting closer..........

(I heard from my niece last night. The unit arrived last Tuesday. She forgot to tell me!!! @rotuts I did not get anything remotely like the shipping notification that you got. I did get a memo type thing saying a split shipment had been shipped. It had a picture of the pots and pans on it so I ignored it thinking they were telling me about a shipment I had already received. I feel like a trout, as the saying goes in these parts. So, it's in Syracuse and we will either go and pick it up Tuesday or she will bring it up at Christmas. It will get it's first test between Christmas and New Year's as I will make some oliebollen and maybe some appleflappen, two Dutch staples served New Year's Eve. Sure hope it works as advertised.

I'm not posting this here for it's looks, but John came across an interesting (to us) recipe for an Asian style rack of lamb. We had it tonight and it was very good. The link to the recipe is here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/holiday-guide/holiday-recipes/recipe-asian-style-rack-of-lamb-with-sticky-risotto/article22176798/

Congratulations! Do they give an estimated arrival date? (I haven't received mine yet. Boo hiss)
-
Yes! Wonderful!

Are you planning to ship to Canada? (She asked, hopefully.)

Indeed. I hate b.s. so when I got the old "trying to send this week and it's Chrismas and so busy" crap I decided to write them a pithy but polite note. If nothing else, I got a reply from someone higher up on the pecking order. We'll see if it does me any good.

8 Good story, great hat. It wasn't until I scrolled down a bit that I realized you were not talking about the hat with the rose.

I wrote to them again and basically called them out on their shipping dates. This is the reply I got. "I'm Chris and I'm one of the leads here over at Tasty. You're absolutely right. So to be fair to you, I will give you an honest answer. We're currently working overtime to get all orders shipped. As you can probably imagine the holidays are a brutal business. What I don't have is the exact delivery date at my fingertips. What I do know is every order prior to Nov 10th is currently processing and gearing to go out this week as stated before. I understand that we've had a couple of setbacks and had to push our shipping dates back a bit but we're committed to getting these to people before Xmas who ordered prior to Nov 10th. I know it isn't the ideal answer, but it's 100% the truth of the matter. I'm going to keep your ticket on hand and once I know something, you'll know something. Again, I apologize for the delays but if there is anything else I can answer for you please feel free to ask." We'll see.

@Darienne no, but i believe @lindag does.
-
Nope. Nothing yet, but technically today is the last day of the week. I will write to them tomorrow.
-
@Darienne Did you see my link to it?
-
Nice haul you have there!

@Anna N Thanks for posting this. I plan to try this as soon as I am physically able. Chris Hennes was kind enough to answer my initial questions. Maybe your or someone else can check to see if there is a pan size i can use other than the recommended 10" x 4" x 3" as I don't have one of those. I do have the smaller Pullman and other various sized loaf pans. BTW, at what ungodly hour do you get up?
