A loaf of bread machine brioche. It rose a bit too much and was pressed against the top of the machine while baking, but it is tasty stuff.

Finally got around to making the brioche recipe in the bread machine. The bread rose a bit too much as you can see by the white spot which did not brown as it was up against the lid. Just had a piece- very tasty.

I'll have to try it. Thanks!

@Shelby How crunchy is the broccoli at 0? I like my beans at 30 seconds.

@BeeZee I didn't think potatoes froze very well. Did you freeze roasted whole small potaoes then thaw, smash and re-roast them? What was the texture like?

Nothing worse than slimy whites.

Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense. So I guess if my Tasty Top was set at 80C and I set my immersion circulator to 60c in another pot, then in theory immediately when the whites have set (if we knew when that was) we transfer the eggs to the second pot we could hold them at least until the toast was done. Practically speaking, this isn't going to happen, at least not by me. But, I am interested in trying to poach an egg in temperature regulated water, if that makes sense, in order to get consistent results. Right now my poached eggs range are anything but.

I need to try this. I bought some eggs last Monday at the farm gate and the eggs are really fresh which should help with this little experiment. I could try this tomorrow but I have no idea what temperature to set the water. @JoNorvelleWalker indicated that there is a reason why it won't work but neglected to say what that reason is. Maybe she will chime in again?

How long and at what temperature?

Yes. Take the exit of 416 onto the 417. You would get off at the Carling exit, stay on Carling , past a shopping centre on your left, a few blocks later at a traffic light you will see Fisher Ave. Turn right and go down a couple of miles, past a major intersection. (Baseline Road). A few more blocks and it is on your right in a strip mall on the corner of Fisher and Meadowlands. Easier yet is to let me know when you are coming and I can give you directions to my place and we can all go together!

True, that. But if you ever get here, It's my treat, no question.

The thought just occurred to me that if I knew the perfect temperature of a poached egg I could set the water temperature to that and in theory, anyway, put the egg in there when the water gets to that temperature and it could stay in there for an hour, not overcook and stay warm. There must be a reason why that won't work.

I'm set up now and tested it on water. Set it for 125 and it was true to 125. I'll try French fries tomorrow and report back.

Yesterday we tried out a new-to-us place called Xiang Zi. John had Beijing Noodles with Fried Bean and Meat Sauce, I had Shrimp Wonton soup which contained 9! wontons, the soup topped with seaweed and green onions. Both were excellent.

@rob1234 It is made in China. I measured my box and it was 17 × 16 × 5. The unit itself weighs less than 6 pounds but with the packaging, I'd say @dtremit has it right.

I am getting an iPhone from my SIL which will work with the TT. It is coming from Calgary and is due to arrive today, assuming Canada Post is on the job. I'll probably try to sous vide something as my first use of the thing.

I like this a lot. Can you give us any idea how much this will cost?

I too am a Martin Yan fan. I found a recipe for the chicken on genius kitchen, and am hoping it is the same as the one you used as it looks amazing. Can you give some details on the bok choy and rice? I wouldn't mind trying to dupicate this as it looks delicious.

@blue_dolphin They are beautiful.

You need at a minimum version 10 of the Apple operating system to use the Bluetooth function. Note too that this is for the iPhone. They say they are working on a version for the iPad which will also require at minimum version 10 and also working on an Android App. They would not tell me when they expect to have them completed.

That is an amazing spread of food.

I haven't used it yet but I sure got excited when I opened that gift. I love small things like that and find them really handy. A couple of other small items that I have that I really like are a couple of 7" silicone tipped tongs and some small spatulas of the same length. The brand is Betty Crocker, yours for $2 for a set of 2 spatulas, one straight ended, one curved, and a pair of tongs for the same price at your local Dollarama. ,

Yes, they are Cusipro. I agree - they make good, solid stuff.

Just have to figure out how it all fits together.......
