If that link takes me to that salad, I can't read.😐

Okay, I'll bite. What is Hughie's love salad?

While in Montreal, visit Patisserie Kouign Aman. Serious Eats did a column on them a while back. I was there just last week and picked up a whole kouign aman, about a 12" round. Delicious. Also visit the Jean Talon market. It's a fabulous place. https://sweets.seriouseats.com/2013/07/where-to-eat-kouign-amann-captivates-twice-in-montreal.html

@lindag You get fresh San Marzanos or are you talking canned ones ?

I just made this except for the jalapeno that is on it's way home. Didn't have lime juice but had finger limes so used that instead. I made it to have with our dinner but I can't stop eating it...........

Did the corn test, microwave vs CSO. The ist cob weighed 438 grams and went into the CSO for 30 minutes at 150. It was slightly undercooked for my taste. The second one weighed 404 grams and went fully clothed into the microwave on high for three minutes. Worked like a charm, but slightly overcooked. One thing I really liked was the way the husk, silk and all, came off, all in one go. The corn also came off in longer strips. The microwaved corn is at the back, the CSO at the front. Conclusion: I'll be microwaving the corn from now on. By the way, everyone needs that little corn stripper. No must, no fuss. It actually works and is made by Zyliss.

Yes, the repair required return rate/not working state is 10%.

I was in my favourite kitchen store the other day and the proprietor and I got talking about the CSO. He said the return rate is 10%.

We love corn and have been eating a ton of it lately, but just plain. Looking at your dish made me scurry off and look for a recipe and I found one by Kenji at Serious Eats. It's on my to make list. Looks yummy.

Okay. Naked in the CSO it is, dressed in the microwave. I will weigh the cobs before husking. I will likely try this on Tuesday as I need to pick up the corn.
-
I'm game to try this. One cob in the husk, microwave 3? or 4? Minutes, in the husk. CSO steam @150 for 30 minutes in the husk. Is this the test we want? Cobs around here are big this year. Big and sweet.
-
Yes, but - but - but - microwave = no steam.
-
I'll try that. Corn is cheap around here right now too. We love corn.

The Chart by @Okanagancook says cook corn on the cob in the husk in the CSO on steam at 400 for 30 minutes. You do yours for the same amount of time at 140, on the steam setting?

Y I want some. -
Does the rice cooker you have @Anna N and @Tri2Cook only cook white rice or does it do others as well?
-
I may look for one at T & T. Can. Tire has the Black and Decker one for $24.99.
-
Where did you find this and, if you have no objection, can you tell us what it cost? I'm intrigued.
-
No I didn't. Does that make a difference? What do you poke it with?

This is why I have a bread machine - for those nights when you realize you are out of plain white bread and you need some in the morning. Put it on the night before using the delay timer and voilà! A fresh baked loaf ready and waiting for you when you get up.

We had a Bradley also, but it developed trouble with that puck dropping mechanism. I had to go out and manually drop the pucks. Other than that, it was a great machine. I did a lot of bacon in it. Edited to add: everything is better with bacon.

Found these today at a thrift store. I paid $5.85 for the lot which I thought was a pretty good deal.

@andiesenji I received my machine and the refillable cups and after playing without a few times finally made my first cup of coffee today. I filled the cup as you instructed, I used 3 of those little scoops and tamped the grounds lightly with that little cup. Seems I put the thing in backwards, because the coffee was missing the cup. Corrected that about halfway through. The only thing I didn't like was the sediment in the cup. That sent me back to Amazon to look at filter papers. Have you ever used them, and if you have, which ones do/did you use? I'm thinking that would solve the sediment problem. The coffee I am using is ground for a Thechnivorm Moccamaster, an electric drip coffee maker and I would rather not have to buy coffee of another grind just for my new machine as I drink coffee only occasionally.
