That brisket looks awesome, Norm. Patrick, one can NEVER be bored looking at delicious pasta like you're showing! Baselerd, for a second there I thought that was a watermelon tomato salad. Oh that fish looks so fresh. I'm jealous. Liuzhou, I read about that garlic on your blog. I think it sounds wonderful. Might have to try making some of that. Venison tostadas last night.

Every once in a while dinner becomes extra super good....last night was super good. It was National Wing Day, so I had to make AnnT's lemon/pepper/sea salt wings. I also wanted to make LiamsAunts pesto zoodles. I honestly didn't miss the pasta....and that's big for me to say. Then, I was perusing around looking for new ways to fix cucumbers and ran across a Julia Child recipe. Wow. I was impressed. Baked cucumbers. I highly recommend trying. I only had fresh dill for herbs....well, I also had some basil, but I thought dill sounded better.

I roasted it over the gas burner on my stove and put it in spag. sauce. Gives it a nice smokey flavor. BUT, I swear the next ones I get are gonna be babaganoush. Froze some Silver Queen yesterday, too.

I skin them all before canning and making sauce. I do the quick flash dip in the boiling water method. Ohhhhh your corn will be great like that.

FIGS OH FIGS. Hummingbird, eat one for me....the best one of the bunch and savor it.

Pretty much the haul I'm getting every morning. Tomatoes are on most surfaces of the kitchen lol. I'll be making some spaghetti sauce to freeze today and then by Friday I'll be canning 'maters. I picked some basil to make more pesto and a few ears of corn to cut and and freeze so that we have a taste of summer when it's snowing.

BLT's on homemade bread, fried okra and green tomato (it accidentally fell off of the vine....I can't fathom picking a green tomato on purpose this time of year ) and silver queen. Man, summer is good.

Ooooh that's pretty.

Sigh, I'm sad that it's over. Thank you so much for sharing. I can pretty much promise that I will never get to travel there, so you are a great window to another part of the world! -
Picking Your Own Berries...At the Grocery Store???
Shelby replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
Not acceptable for me either. -
I wanted a nice, soft white bread for making BLT's and tomato and bologna sandwiches. I haven't cut into this yet, but I think it fits the bill. I used the same recipe that Anna used a while back from King. A. Flour.

Those are cute, Kay! I've never been able to make rice krispy treats. They always come out SUPER tough.

I had a hankering for calzones. I spent most of the day in the kitchen on various projects so I figured calzones would fit right in. My husband doesn't care for ricotta cheese so I used cottage cheese, egg and parm. with thick slices of fresh mozz. I sautéed some onions and mushrooms along with ground pork and spinach. The insides were excellent...the outside, not so much. I used my pizza crust recipe. It's great for pizza, not for calzones. I must do a bit of research before I try again. On the up side, I brought out some of the homemade pesto for topping and my husband liked it. Pesto is another thing that I thought he didn't like. Apparently I'm dredging up husbands from a past life or something.
