My husband has been asking me to make jalapeño jelly. You know that appetizer from...the 80's??? 70's?? Block of cream cheese and pour the jelly over it. Serve with crackers. Good stuff.
-
That's a lot of different/new flavors. Lemon chicken, cucumber and spicy hot pot would be going in my shopping cart
-
Nice pickage! My jalapeños never get big. They are always like yours. I like to pickle a jar or two if I have a lot of them. Pickled jalapeños are super good on pizza

Oh your place is SO perfect. Wow. Just WOW. I bet the fruit flies love you. I'll send mine over. They like my tomatoes but I bet they would like your grapes a lot better If I had those vineyards I'd set an easel up and paint those gorgeous vines and bunches of grapes. While painting I'd sip on some wine that came from previous years....and I'd watch my husband work. You have a lot of knowledge about all of this. I think you should keep this thread updated forever Do you ever just save the plain grape juice and drink it? Ohhhhh BlueDolpin could make some kick ass popsicles I bet

Looks lovely, BD! What a great color.

Nice!! Lucky you!

Oh this is awesome. Thank you so much!

I only have the one that came with the IP. I don't have as many cool toys as you guys do

I'm still going to test it doing one layer in the canning lids and then putting more on top......but not today probably. I'm kind of "egged out" lol. Need to look at that link for CTA's steamer (btw, welcome CTA!!). If it's not too pricey I'd like to have one of those.

Ooooh yeah, that sounds good. Maybe a tomato gravy??? YUM. The hunters might have to take a nap in the blind after that meal (yes, Teal season is going now)
-
Ok. Yes, that explains it perfectly. Thanks. What would I do without you???? Next time I will have perfect eggs Kinda makes me want to do another batch now lol. Oh, and I do like the little musical tones the pot plays upon opening and closing it.
-
I guess I wasn't. Ooops. Ok, so I shouldn't do a quick release and just let them sit there. Dumb question: How do you know when the slow release is done? Remember. I'm a newbie. Very very green lol. Edited to add: I totally missed that post. I know I did because I would have "liked" it. I think your bread below grabbed my attention.

Oh they would have been lovely for breakfast. I can see doing them for 4 mins is perfect for a soft boiled egg. I did love how much easier they were to peel. Yes, pressure-steam. I was afraid to experiment too much. Do you think you could just pile some eggs in on top of one another? The recipe said to use cookie cutters or canning bands to keep the eggs separated. Is that necessary? I didn't use the push pin method. I will do this again. Just the easier peel makes it worth it. And, when I get the time right, perfect hardboiled eggs every time
-
Well, I should know better than to experiment with something new when I have a guest. Not a total failure, but more experimentation is needed. I used this method from the IP site. I assume that I shouldn't have put 6 eggs and done the 5 like they said. After 5 mins. and a soak in some cold water for a few mins. they were a LOT easier to peel ( I used farm eggs from my girl so they are very very fresh ) but the yolks were not done enough. I did another batch and upped the time to 6 mins. Still not done enough. I went ahead and used them---the filling for the eggs is a bit...stickier than normal, but passable. I got a thumbs up from the hunters--but then again, they were starving lol. I can't justify doing another batch yet, when I do, I will go for 7 mins.

We have company here (my husband's hunting buddy) and thus I am going to make some deviled eggs for appetizers. They are always starving when they get home. I drug the IP from the depths of the basement where it had been patiently waiting for me to welcome it to the kitchen. I have done the test step recommended (filling it up w/ water and doing a pressure cook). LORDY help me I don't like moving the thingy to "vent" lol. But, I bravely did it. Yes. I am a wuss. Now, to steam some eggs........

Is Anyone Cooking for Talk Like a Pirate Day?
Shelby replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
Oh man! If I didn't have a house guest I'd be in matey! I guess I'd fry some fish...although I don't think real pirates fried fish..... Pirate food pyramid -
You need to sell some to special EG members.

Welcome Boucaneer and I think it's wonderful that you are going over to help.

Awesome! Those grapes are a thing of beauty. Roughly how many bottles will you get this year? What do you do with the grape "leavings"? Compost?
-
TFTC--I love the bean recipe. Will have to try that. LiamsAunt--That toro looks awesome. Rotuts--Ohhhhh that plate looks so good. I don't think it needed peas .....maybe a roll to sop some gravy up I had a bag of vac. sealed shrimp that magically unsealed itself in the freezer so I made an alfredo of sorts. Threw in a bit of pesto and dried tomatoes.

This is a fun and interesting topic! I would order: 鲜虾煲仔饭 Fresh Shrimp Sandpot Rice 14 ($2.10) 西红柿炒蛋 Scrambled Egg with Tomato 12 ($1.80)

I don't know what those beans are, but I do know that they are HUGE and beautiful!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Simply stunning the amount of beautiful food and prep and work. Did you have any leftovers? I bet you didn't! We just had enchiladas the other night and after reading your latest installment I want something like that again NOW. About how many people do you feed? This is all at your house, right? I hope you got to freeze and keep a bit of food for all of your hard work And, yeah, I could read this every year and NEVER be bored. Please always post

Yes, which is why about half way there they always drop them leaving an orange trail of where they've been

The raccoons (little thieves ) broke in to the garden and began carting my pumpkins off to the river so I picked them all this morning. Well, most of them. There are a few that are still green. Hopefully they will leave those alone.
