  1. Smithy, I think I speak for us all--NO need for a new "spin". We like traveling along and just seeing your everyday life Don't change a thing!!! Please
  2. Oh you will most definitely find chili fries at the fair
  3. I'm all packed up and ready to roll. *shelby adjusts her tiara (well, we are going princess style, you know)*
  4. Definitely good fries. Nice, thick cut ones that aren't mushy. Waffle fries are good, too. And, good cheese. Sharp cheddar that is good and melty.

    Dinner 2015 (Part 5)

Hi everyone! I've been looking at all of your wonderful meals. I can tell fall is sneaking in to a few areas I'm ready for the cooler air....and less gardening lol. Been a while since I've posted anything here. Our hunter came to stay with us for a few days. I was all set to post pics of the meals and I only managed to remember to take ONE picture. I guess I was too busy. Anyway, for appetizers one evening I set out some head cheese and pimento cheese. BIG hit. I didn't make either of them lol, but it was dang good. After he left I was POOPED. I don't know why, but for me cooking for just ONE extra person throws me into a spin lol. Since then we've had a lot of repeats. MANY meals that include doves. They shot a lot of doves. Doves, okra, rice And a venison taco salad.

    Fish Identification

That is the prettiest fish I've ever seen. You now know what it is, but my first thought was that it looked to be in the carp family. The scales are very similar (not the color, but the shape).
  7. WOW, Kay, ya done good, kid! I'll have to try using the skins more next year. I have about 10 lbs. of tomatoes on my counter now, but I feel like I'm done canning. Maybe I'll get a burst of energy and do something exciting like your relish. Or maybe I'll just make a lot of BLT's lol.
  8. What a character Kenny is, eh? I enjoyed it. I also recommend the documentary I Like Killing Flies if you can find it to watch.
  9. Finger licking braised pork The other two just name the flavor where is the pork is finger licking....must be super good lol.
  10. My husband has been asking me to make jalapeño jelly. You know that appetizer from...the 80's??? 70's?? Block of cream cheese and pour the jelly over it. Serve with crackers. Good stuff.
  11. That's a lot of different/new flavors. Lemon chicken, cucumber and spicy hot pot would be going in my shopping cart
  12. Nice pickage! My jalapeños never get big. They are always like yours. I like to pickle a jar or two if I have a lot of them. Pickled jalapeños are super good on pizza
  13. Oh your place is SO perfect. Wow. Just WOW. I bet the fruit flies love you. I'll send mine over. They like my tomatoes but I bet they would like your grapes a lot better If I had those vineyards I'd set an easel up and paint those gorgeous vines and bunches of grapes. While painting I'd sip on some wine that came from previous years....and I'd watch my husband work. You have a lot of knowledge about all of this. I think you should keep this thread updated forever Do you ever just save the plain grape juice and drink it? Ohhhhh BlueDolpin could make some kick ass popsicles I bet
  14. Looks lovely, BD! What a great color.
  15. Nice!! Lucky you!
  16. Oh this is awesome. Thank you so much!
  17. I only have the one that came with the IP. I don't have as many cool toys as you guys do
  18. I'm still going to test it doing one layer in the canning lids and then putting more on top......but not today probably. I'm kind of "egged out" lol. Need to look at that link for CTA's steamer (btw, welcome CTA!!). If it's not too pricey I'd like to have one of those.
  19. Ooooh yeah, that sounds good. Maybe a tomato gravy??? YUM. The hunters might have to take a nap in the blind after that meal (yes, Teal season is going now)
  20. Ok. Yes, that explains it perfectly. Thanks. What would I do without you???? Next time I will have perfect eggs Kinda makes me want to do another batch now lol. Oh, and I do like the little musical tones the pot plays upon opening and closing it.
  21. I guess I wasn't. Ooops. Ok, so I shouldn't do a quick release and just let them sit there. Dumb question: How do you know when the slow release is done? Remember. I'm a newbie. Very very green lol. Edited to add: I totally missed that post. I know I did because I would have "liked" it. I think your bread below grabbed my attention.
  22. Oh they would have been lovely for breakfast. I can see doing them for 4 mins is perfect for a soft boiled egg. I did love how much easier they were to peel. Yes, pressure-steam. I was afraid to experiment too much. Do you think you could just pile some eggs in on top of one another? The recipe said to use cookie cutters or canning bands to keep the eggs separated. Is that necessary? I didn't use the push pin method. I will do this again. Just the easier peel makes it worth it. And, when I get the time right, perfect hardboiled eggs every time
  23. Well, I should know better than to experiment with something new when I have a guest. Not a total failure, but more experimentation is needed. I used this method from the IP site. I assume that I shouldn't have put 6 eggs and done the 5 like they said. After 5 mins. and a soak in some cold water for a few mins. they were a LOT easier to peel ( I used farm eggs from my girl so they are very very fresh ) but the yolks were not done enough. I did another batch and upped the time to 6 mins. Still not done enough. I went ahead and used them---the filling for the eggs is a bit...stickier than normal, but passable. I got a thumbs up from the hunters--but then again, they were starving lol. I can't justify doing another batch yet, when I do, I will go for 7 mins.
  24. We have company here (my husband's hunting buddy) and thus I am going to make some deviled eggs for appetizers. They are always starving when they get home. I drug the IP from the depths of the basement where it had been patiently waiting for me to welcome it to the kitchen. I have done the test step recommended (filling it up w/ water and doing a pressure cook). LORDY help me I don't like moving the thingy to "vent" lol. But, I bravely did it. Yes. I am a wuss. Now, to steam some eggs........
