Cyalexa, I finally made these yesterday. OMG these are the best buns I've ever made. Mine in the past have always turned out like crusty mini loaves (which are edible, but not what I'm looking for with a hotdog or hamburger). I didn't have any wheat flour so I used all white. I need to practice shaping the HD buns....I re-did them twice and they still didn't look near as good as yours. I'm definitely doubling this recipe next time and I'm going to freeze some. Thank you so much for this recipe!!!!!! Definitely a hit.

I'm hoarding homegrown 'maters here...to a fault actually. Your sandwich looks lovely. I gotta can tomorrow...a small batch.

Are you on call still? I guess that means no cocktail hour

Thank you for the link, TFTC! I will peruse it and see if I get brave enough to try Ronnie went fishing yesterday in the river and caught some nice little catfish (I think he went over to a small lake nearby, too, where he caught a couple bass). Fried fish and onion rings. Tater salad to go with.

I am so behind all of you guys in making different things in the IP, but I had to share. I did potato salad last night. Eggs came out perfect again and the potatoes OH the potatoes. I used Russets. Peeled 3 of them and chopped them up. Threw them in the IP after the eggs were done. Did them on steam high pressure for 5 mins and left them in for 5 more before I released. I was afraid they were too done at first, but after mixing everything else in and letting it chill in the fridge, it was declared the best potato salad I've ever made by Ronnie.

Andie, you are the queen of cool tools. I love that you take such good care of them. Kerry, sleep well--I'm sure you're pooped from today. See ya in the morning

Gosh, Kim, your crepes look awesome to me. You've triggered a memory that I can't quite put my finger on, but I think my mom made something like that..or maybe it was my Grammy. I remember loving the sauce. I've never attempted crepes, but you make me want to try. Okanagan, great looking spread and I love your tablecloth. So cheerful and homey. Liuzhou, I'm so glad your friend got to come again! I know how very special she is to you. Your shrimp look perfect and I'm sure that her tooth felt better at least for a bit due to the great company, food and wine! Yesterday was national taco day so......... (I had forgotten to take a picture until after I had a bite)

My husband bought us this huge bag of garlic. I hate peeling garlic, so this is perfect for me. I vacuum packed them in to smaller portions and froze them. Handy

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2015)
Shelby replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
I made an apple pie the other day and used a new (to me) technique for the apples. I do not care for my apples to be crunchy in pie. I know some people don't pre-cook their apples, but I do because no matter how thinly I slice them, they don't get done enough for me when baking the pie. So, in cruising around the internet I found a recipe from Serious Eats that calls for boiling water (or apple cider--which I didn't have or I definitely would have used) and pouring it over the sliced apples. You let them sit for 10 mins (I covered mine with a towel) then drain and let them sit for 10 more minutes. Then you toss the apples with your spices etc. and make the pie. The apples were perfect (to me). The picture I took of my slice of pie is too terrible to post, but it tasted good -
Fries look good. Not too "flabby". Nice and crisp.

I kinda liken Anna and Kerry to food ......they go together like peanut butter and jelly eggs and bacon I could go on and on I can't wait to see what adventures Kerry can get us in to up there! That tomato chutney sounds good right now. I bet the ferry trip is a little chilly! Ok, I'll shut up now. Can you tell I'm excited?
-
Are you up north again, Kerry? I'm hoping Anna is ok. She hasn't posted for a few days....yeah yeah, that's not much, but I am a worry-wart. Those salads look rather good. I've neglected salads...I've been eating fresh tomatoes in lieu lol.

Sounds good to me. Are the noodles buttered egg noodles?
-
Gorgeous, Elaina! I'd like a big dollop on a piece of toast right now!

Smithy--If I wasn't hoarding our tomatoes to eat uncooked, I'd be trying that tomato pie. I've got to remember that for next summer. The potatoes are a wonderful idea. Dejah--I now want meatballs. That gravy looks lovely. Patrick--WOW that pasta and fried chicken is calling my name. Why do I look at this thread when I'm hungry? You all have been making great meals. I gotta get off my butt and join in. I seem to be taking the easy way out and making things that I've frozen or sandwiches or breakfast. Yesterday I baked a loaf of white bread specifically for BLT's. Like I said above, I'm hoarding our remaining 'maters to eat. I wanted one last BLT. I had mine spread with some avocado, so I guess mine was a BLAT. Ronnie thinks avocado tastes like candle wax so he had his the regular way with mayo.

I felt kinda cool when I saw your jar labels I'm glad you enjoy them. Even my pickle-picky husband likes them this year (he didn't last year for some reason)

Smithy, everything looks WONDERFUL! I will definitely remember to try some chipotle next year. Does it add a smokey note at all?

I needed some hard boiled eggs last night so I tried again. This time I followed Anna's instructions to a "T". The most perfect eggs I've ever made and the shells simply slid off. I used very fresh eggs from my girl down the road. I'm writing the instructions down in my IP book so that I'll always have them. Thank you, Anna!

Smithy, I think I speak for us all--NO need for a new "spin". We like traveling along and just seeing your everyday life Don't change a thing!!! Please

Oh you will most definitely find chili fries at the fair
-
I'm all packed up and ready to roll. *shelby adjusts her tiara (well, we are going princess style, you know)*

Definitely good fries. Nice, thick cut ones that aren't mushy. Waffle fries are good, too. And, good cheese. Sharp cheddar that is good and melty.

Hi everyone! I've been looking at all of your wonderful meals. I can tell fall is sneaking in to a few areas I'm ready for the cooler air....and less gardening lol. Been a while since I've posted anything here. Our hunter came to stay with us for a few days. I was all set to post pics of the meals and I only managed to remember to take ONE picture. I guess I was too busy. Anyway, for appetizers one evening I set out some head cheese and pimento cheese. BIG hit. I didn't make either of them lol, but it was dang good. After he left I was POOPED. I don't know why, but for me cooking for just ONE extra person throws me into a spin lol. Since then we've had a lot of repeats. MANY meals that include doves. They shot a lot of doves. Doves, okra, rice And a venison taco salad.
