  1. I wish that was true in my case. I know of lots of others in the same boat. I am up 2 or more times a night to smoke unless I am really in a deep sleep and that doesn’t happen often. Also some of you seem to be forgetting linked behavior. I know quite a few social smokers that only smoke in bars. not to mention it's easier to not do things while you're sleeping. eating and drinking water are 2. i don't go 8 hours without eating or drinking water. unless i'm sleeping.
  2. do they live in jersey?

Yes, but only a tourist would do this. i've been called worse.

Oh my...you of all people are sensitive? yeah, that heartless callus cold uncaring bastard persona is just a front.

yeah, the "kobe" beef is fun. but i don't think it's the best way to enjoy kobe beef (on a hot rock). the regular steak is fine for this dish. their sushi/sashimi has always been very good. also, their version of the chinese dish of minced meat, waterchestnuts, and some other stuff, wrapped in lettuce, is pretty good, and again, fun.

inspired by varmint's pig pickin (and my desire to have a whole pig at a party someday), i was wondering how one goes about eating a whole pig. surely there are different parts and those different parts should be eaten seperately. what do you serve with it? does it need sauce? do you use a fork? or are they sandwiches? what gives?
  9. i can assure everyone that new yorkers can be nasty miserable people. and they can also be wonderful (like me). but, i do think that people overall are more pleasant in a lot of other places in the US, and the world for that matter. that, of course, is just one man's experience.
  10. i'm getting the feeling that there are two sides to this issue.
  11. it's more upscale than your average chinatown place. has a decent wine list. service is probably a bit more polished. dishes are probably a bit different, as they are not strictly "authentic" vietnamese (which of course does not mean it's better, just different). seems like this place can coexist with the places in chinatown, as they are different animals meeting different needs.
  12. fox news bit.
  13. man, that boy got all kinda messed up.
  14. there're a *bit* far for walking, yes? edit: i take that back. they are closer than i thought too. more importantly, how close is Shakers?
  15. lou, will you call to tell them you're bringing?

right. which pokes some holes in snoop's post, which didn't really address the fact that people don't like his persona, which is what people were kinda saying to begin with.
  17. oy rosie should have made that clear, but didn't. and i didn't either oy. ('oy' in the previous post wasn't direction towards you rachel, but rather in general that we have to rehash the ABC rules when there's a thread devoted to it. we might as well delete the thread).
  18. oy. it has a license. it's also widely regarded as one of the top restaurants in the state.
  19. no, corkage fees are legal in jersey, as long as you have a license to sell liquor. here's a thread on which i'm hoping we compile facts and discussion on the laws.
  20. Yeah, the nuoc cham took some getting used to. I would never have imagined that going well with bbq pork....but it did! don't be afraid to try it at home. a bbq pork sandwich with nuoc chaum, lettuce, mint, and a smear of pate on some crusty french bread, and you're in lunch heaven.

there are various threads covering this. but, for me, i think flay is a bit of an obnoxious prick. i don't like mean people. and Mesa Grill has given me attitude on more than on occasion. so basically, i don't think i like the guy very much, and i *know* i don't like some of the people he has working for him.

    mommy please make it stop.
  23. soup dumplings. hands down. in fact, i rarely eat any other, as they are so often doughy, and unbalanced flavor/texture-wise.
  24. this is one of my favorite dishes. i often make it sans meat. just long beans, or asparagus, as a side (using canned paste makes it a quick and easy way to make a flavorful side dish). are you making the curry from scratch?
