my usual procedure consists of putting it on a pizza stone when it comes. that sucker crisps right up, even more than when they first made it. in fact, as we speak, i'm roasting some artichokes to put on the top, as the pizza place doesn't put enough on.

cool. kim is in charge of arranging the place.

is that in the US? i'm not alone in this approach Beans. how much are you taxed on a sale of $1500?

why on earth would you "not tip" on the cost of wine? it's clear to even the novice diner that a good amount of service, on which one presumably tips, is geared towards wine service. perhaps even more so than the rest of the aspects of the meal combined. i'll look for the other threads. from memory, i can say that most will disagree with any suggestion on not tipping on wine. however, some will suggest that 20% on 2 bottles of $300 wine doesn't necessary merit a $120 tip.

i was speaking more to the sutble assertion that all meals must somehow be special and wine-worthy. there are many reasons why even avid wine drinkers, a group of which i consider myself a part, don't drink wine with every meal. but i respect your choices if they include wine with every meal, and if you consider every one of your meals "special."

Also, some parks have restrictions on consuming alcohol on-site... indeed. just about all of them. i'd love to do this. although i won't volunteer my home, i'll help out in any way.

i'd like to see more of this. much much more of this.

a few other posters are being a bit hard on C46. one even characterizes it as "expensive". on a normal night, i have a hard time spending 25 bucks there.

perhaps he most clever thing you've ever said. he sure did fling that cutting board. morimoto was not impressed. stillman touched on the who culture/respect issue in the Q&A. i think that does play a great part in that show's charm. putting an american frat boy into that particular arena sure had potential to be embarrassing.
-
hopefully that's changing. i've seen a change even on egullet over the last 2 years. there are several threads on roses with people champing at the bit to learn more. i know i have.

we had seen this before, and while we wanted to watch it again (and did), my wife said towards the end "i'm going to bed. i can't watch Flay win." raise the roof, yo.

the fella states: maybe he was there the day before? still, good news. and a nice report.

some other reasons might include, but of course are not limited to: 1) budget 2) not wanting to feel sluggish given the choice of having a glass of wine in my hand and not, you can be yer ass that 99% of the time i'll choose the former. however, if i'm having a sandwich and a pickle, sometimes i just can't be bothered to pick a wine from my "cellar" (closet) that would pair well, or worse yet, drive to the store to get that perfect ham sandwich/pickle pairing wine. for the most part, i agree with craig and bux. however, i question their approach to this issue vis-a-vis questioning peoples' tastes and choices when i think they really do understand where people are coming from.

i suggest that you hope pixelchef doesn't see this thread. i'm with stone. the furry bits of fennel go nicely inside of a snappa.

right. and that's why people make fun of it. it's wine with training wheels for wine drinkers with diapers. i'd guess that a good amount of people btwn 25 and 35, who might now be very much into wine, got their start with white zinfandel. i know i did. and yes, it sure did go well with thai food. now, however, i'll probably buy a rose from france or spain for that application, just in case anyone i know walks into the restaurant.

i had to turn the episode off. and i'll watch just about *any*thing.

Sometimes I'll eat McDonald's for dinner. I don't consider that "nice", do you? And certainly not appropriate (in my mind) to open a bottle for. Why in the world not? A nice slightly chilled Beaujolais or a fresh young rose improves the Quarter Pounder experience greatly. You are already punishing yourself by eating at McDonald's why double your punishment by denying yourself the pleasure of a glass (or 2) of wine? not in the drive through or at work. for most of us anyway.

because they're made in california by california wine makers and marketed to americans who debate over Coke being better than Pepsi, or which power mix of "fruit drink" is better?
-
blame the importers or the wine shops. god knows most of them carry only SM, and at 20 bucks a bottle give or take, people think it's "super special." i'm always in search of reasonably priced pinot grigios. the simple fact is that they're hard to come by in a lot of areas in the US.

that's good news. i remember their BBQ pork being exceptional. but, as i've complained on these boards before, i stopped going because it became such a madhouse. it was so so wonderful before the expansion and before anyone knew about it.

when momo sneezes, the burst of air actually shoots upward. he kinda caught me off guard with that little trick.

that place has some wine list. i love the way they offer glasses in 3 different sizes. i've never seen that, even in NYC. i'd love that.

more importantly, how far is the cracker barrel and waffle house.

i add red curry paste to peanut sauce. also, i heat it on the stove for some time while whisking everything together (using palm sugar as well). not sure if you did that or if it might result in a more pleasant texture.
